Lebanese baker Sue is one of the most experienced bakers’ in the shed. As a retired bank manager, Sue now travels the world in search of new food and flavours. Traditional Lebanese baking is Sue’s speciality, with recipes dating back to her great grandmother. “When I was young, I remember doing big batches of tomato paste, jam and pickling vine leaves with my mother, grandmother and great grandmother.” Sue self-published an authentic Lebanese cookbook, ‘Tayta’s Lebanese Kitchen’ which is a legacy to her family heritage.
The cookbook is filled with Lebanese sweets, which Sue lists as her baking strength. “My favourite thing to bake is Maamoul, which my friends love!” Baking under pressure will come naturally for Sue, as she recalls her biggest baking success. “I catered for my daughters 21st birthday with over 300 guests!” On entering the shed, Sue added, “I’ve always watched The Great Australian Bake Off, and meeting Matt and Maggie was a dream, I look forward to learning more and I am very grateful to be given this opportunity at my age.”...
