Micah Donovan is an artist and educator. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, he grew up on French home cooking grits, and Friday night barbecue sandwiches at Crooks Corner in North Carolina.
Micah Donovan is an artist and educator. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, he grew up on French home cooking grits, and Friday night barbecue sandwiches at Crooks Corner in North Carolina. His early introduction to good blues, jazz, college rock, and Southern food put him on a lifelong path of music and food appreciation.
He completed the International Baccalaureate program at St. Pete High, Florida. It was a balance of hard academic work, beaches, and flip-flops. He moved to Paris, studied at the Sorbonne for Art history, dropped out and became a chauffeur. This fueled his record buying habits, propensity for cheap bistro lunches, and pinball playing in the corner cafés. He moved and started a BFA in Kansas City, which he finished in Halifax at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
Micah’s interest in music, food, art, and play took the shape of collaborative projects with other artists, student politics, and ultimately working with children. He has worked closely with Spiral Garden at Bloorview Kids Rehab, in Toronto, as a designer and arts program coordinator for children with and without special needs. He lives in Toronto.... Read more.
