Helping to raise two primary school-aged stepdaughters, and after the birth of her son in 2016, Lucy became increasingly aware of the lack of nutritionally sound information available to pregnant mums and first-time parents. A quick trip down the supermarket aisle saw the majority of commercial baby and toddler food products that were being marketed as ‘healthy’ were loaded with hidden sugars, vegetable oils and artificial ingredients. It became clear that the course to a life of junk food and long-term health problems was being established as early as the flavoured yoghurts, cereal bars and teething biscuits were being fed to our children.
Lucy Stewart Nutrition focuses on prenatal and childhood nutrition. Lucy aims to empower mums-to-be, parents and carers to make healthier food choices for their children, right from the start. Backed by up-to-date nutrition information and research, Lucy offers practical solutions on ways to make better food choices at every meal and create delicious nutritious recipes, no matter your skill, time or budget – covering everything from navigating the supermarket shelves, to pantry makeovers and how to introduce solids or overcome fussy eating.
A healthy and nutritious diet during pregnancy will support optimal health for mother and baby. The first “1000 days” of life – from day 1 of conception to a child’s 2nd birthday – has been identified as a critical window of time that sets the stage for a person’s lifelong health. By supporting this period of enormous potential and vulnerability with the right nutrition, we can build healthier and more prosperous futures for our children.
With an abundance of new and conflicting advice on how to eat safe and well in pregnancy, coupled with cravings and morning sickness, it is often a confusing time for mums. Lucy Stewart Nutrition helps ease the stress by offering comprehensive prenatal nutrition advice, including menu planners, recipes, shopping guides and advice on how to improve gut health and prevent allergies in your unborn baby.
As a busy working mum, Lucy understands what it takes to feed hungry (and often fussy) mouths at the end of the day. At Lucy’s table, meal times are about nourishment and enjoyment, so you won’t find any fancy food-styling or studio kitchens, just real food cooked in a home kitchen with well-loved pots and pans, miss-matched cutlery, sinks filled with washing up, children (and floors) covered in food because real life, includes all the burnt bits around the edges.
Lucy lives in Sydney with her gorgeous boys: husband, Matt, and little boy, Otis, and shares time being second-mum to her two wonderful step-daughters.
