Javier Codina, Chef de Cuisine and Restaurateur of the Award winning Gianni's Restaurant, is a true Catalan.
Javier has worked in some of the world's finest dining rooms including "The Arts Hotel",in Barcelona. San Francisco Ritz Carlton with Gary Danko and the exclusive Chewton Glen Hotel in Hampshire, England to work with Executive Chef Pierre Chevillard.
After this, Javier was lured to La Fontaine on Hayman Island and it was here that he joined forces with Gianni Greghini, with the pair eventually moving to Brisbane to start their restaurant in Edward Street.
Since opening in 1999 the Restaurant has enjoyed a growing clientele of regulars who have enjoyed the fine food and hospitality the Gianni's has come to be renowned for.
Gianni's achievements have been recognized with the Awards achieved over the past few years including 2004 Queensland Restaurant of the Year, Best Fine Dining and Best Chef/Owner at the Restaurant and Catering Association State Awards for Excellence. In 2006 they received an award for Best Fine Dining in the Regional Awards. Gianni's Restaurant has also just received the award for Best European Restaurant in the 2007 Regional Awards with the Queensland Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence.
Javier brings to the Restaurant an international style to his cuisine by blending influences from France, California and his native Barcelona.
Combining a diverse array of flavours with delightful imagination, Javier integrates the best local produce into his carefully created dishes.
Javier produces a harmonious blend of classical and new cuisine, which has bought high praise from critics and patrons.
