Science Graduate from Brisbane and contestant on Series 3 of The Great Australian Bake Off.
As the youngest baker in this year’s season, what the recent Science degree grad Emma may lack in experience, she more than makes up for when it comes to discipline and a methodical approach to baking.
“I’m definitely nervous about being so inexperienced compared to the others,” says Emma, who last year graduated with a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Human Biomedical Anatomy. “But what my science background gives me is that I’m not scared to experiment. I love being totally creative whereas my background is all about methods.”
Having learnt the art of baking from her mum, she is very methodical in the kitchen, even writing spreadsheets for her preparation. Her bakes may be intricate, but Emma is most at home with the simple pleasures in life – chocolate cake!
“I really love chocolate cakes – and, yes, I know that’s boring!” she laughs. “I do love to be able to decorate them though.”
