Chef David Allison is the owner and operator of Stix Catering.
Before he became a chef, David "Stix" Allison, spent three years jackarooing in far-north Queensland. It was here that he first got a taste of what was to become a consuming career – the camp cook was crook and Stix was told to pick up the camp oven and get busy; little did he know where that was to lead him.
When Stix came in from the bush, he headed for a kitchen and spent the following seven years working at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Sydney & Double Bay. He left the Ritz-Carlton a qualified chef and spent the next six months traveling through Asia researching and experiencing the local cuisine. On his return to Australia, Stix moved to Thredbo in the Snowy Mountains where for two years he managed one of the village’s top restaurants. In 1999 he moved back to Sydney, and Stix Catering Pty Limited was born.
