Christie Whelan Browne is one of Australia’s leading musical theatre performers.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Christie was drawn to the performing arts from a young age. Over the past two years, Christies television career has been going from strength to strength, playing roles in a number hit television series, such as Channel 7’s Winners and Losers, Offspring and Wonderland and is set to feature in the much anticipated INXS miniseries; Never Tear Us Apart.
On her very early days in performing Christie says; "I didn't know anything about performing but when I was about 10, my best friend went to dancing and I wanted to do whatever she did. I was never very good at dancing. We had to do solos and the teacher said to me, 'Can you sing?' and I said, 'I don't know.' She said, 'Try Happy Birthday', and I sang, and I remember her and my mum looking at each other thinking, 'She can sing.' From then on they'd always bring me forward to sing and then move me back for the dancing."
