Student Voice Officer and part-time Tutor from Sydney and contestant on Series 4 of The Great Australian Bake Off.
Born in The United Arab Emirates as an only child, Anston moved to Australia in 2010. Whilst he is self-taught he has fond memories of watching his mum bake growing up. Anston recalls, “my favourite baking memory is being handed down recipes, in particular ‘Jaggery’ pudding. A pudding made of cane sugar, I made it my own after being passed down two generations, you need to put a bit of you in it without changing the core of the recipe.”
Anston lost 100kg and now loves promoting his vegan life style even though his favourite thing to bake is Cakembouche, a cake with a tower of profiteroles dressed in pastel flowers, chocolate and coloured Swiss meringue buttercream.
