Angela is amateur baking royalty. She has been competing at the Royal Melbourne Show since she was four-years-old and enters up to 40 categories of bake into the show every year.
“I have been baking for as long as I can remember,” says Angela. “When I was four I won a Blue Ribbon for Patty Cakes at the Royal Melbourne Show.
“Baking runs in my family. I taught my kids to bake and my son was the youngest person in the RMS’s history to win a prize for the Open Sponge Cake – the 5th generation of family to win the award. My daughter also wins awards.”
It seems that the oven is Angela’s sixth sense, with written recipes rarely used.
“All my recipes are in my head; I basically cook by feel,” she explains, adding that she’s daunted by the level of skill of her baking colleagues. “I’m not a competitive person but being on the show I want to take my baking to a whole new level.”
