Some of the biggest names in the culinary world came out to celebrate Australia's hottest new talent in the hospitality industry this week at the 2011 Elextrolux Appetite for Excellence Awards.
Among the guests at the exclusive reception in Sydney were Peter Gilmore (Quay), Justin and Georgia North (Becasse), Christine Manfield (Universal), Philip Johnson (Ecco) and food commentator Lyndey Milan.
The Young Chef of the Year was announced as Richard Ousby from Quay, who was thrilled to take out the top spot.
“It is great to gain recognition for your efforts and be rewarded for the hard work we put in each day,” he said. “This program has been an amazing experience, I have learnt so much and I look forward to making the most of the future opportunities.”
The winners receive a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience to expand their food and wine skills, learn from some of the world’s best chefs and be inspired by an amazing overseas trip. They are:
