Bundanoon in NSW has become the first town in Australia, and possibly the world, to ban bottled water. The catalyst for the ban was a proposal to build a water extraction plant in the town. It was initially turned down after sustained objections from residents, but the company has appealed and the case is currently before the NSW Land and Environment Court.

Fast Food at home …

We’ve noticed a few of our members posting recipes for creating fast food at home. Jackicam found a version of the Big Mac on Todd Wilbur’s, while Cooking Mama has made her own recipe for the ubiquitous burger. When we stumbled on this US website. we thought we had to share it with you … any Aussie interpretations welcome! Incidentally it was on this day, 6 years ago, that McDonald’s first added nutritional information to their packaging.

Bespoke Dining …

This could very well be the next culinary craze … Paul Wilson, one of Melbourne’s favourite chefs said farewell to his own kitchen when he left The Botanical earlier this year, however he will be back behind the stoves at different restaurants around town. You can read more at his website

42 Restaurants …

Apple’s latest application for the iphone is all about food. Featuring 42 of the world’s best restaurants, the application allows you to see inside the restaurant and provides a recipe from the chef. Threee Australian restaurants make the list: Rockpool, Vue de Monde and the Royal Mail in Dunkeld. For more information about the application check out the 42 Restaurants website.
