Australia's favourite bread bowl party food has never been easier!
Who doesn't love a cob? It's an edible bowl that holds its own dip!
Now, thanks to the miracle of the air fryer, you can have the best cob of your life in a third of plain-jane oven loaf.
Aussie home cook, Renee shared her recipe for cheese and bacon air-fryer cob on the Share Kmart Air Fryer Recipes Australia Facebook group, and it blew up - gaining over 700 comments in under 24 hours.
The clever cob chef found that using an air-fryer greatly minimised cooking time and actually made the filling taste better! Here's how it's done:
- Cob Loaf
- 250g cream cheese
- 160g cream
- 160g sour cream
- 1 1/2 cup grated cheese
- 200g diced bacon
- Small onion diced
- Small handful shallots
- Salt and pepper
To begin, cook the onions and bacon in a frying pan until the bacon has rendered and the onions have browned slightly. Then, combine the cream cheese, cream, sour cream, grated cheese and shallots in a large bowl. Add in your bacon and onions, season with salt and pepper, and stir.
Cut the top off of your cob loaf and remove the soft bread filling. Put in the cheese mixture. To cook, Renee used the 3.2L air-fryer on 180 degrees for 5 minutes. Then remove the loaf, stirred the filling, and put it back in for an additional 5 minutes on 170 degrees. At this stage, serve and enjoy!
Fellow group members were tagging each other and commenting on how they couldn't wait to make their own air-fryer cob loaves:
"There is nothing this machine can’t do," said one air-fryer fanatic.
Another wrote: "Mmmmmmmm cob is my favourite thing to cook in my air fryer..."
