Star Baker Olivia on How to Bake a 20-Layer Cake

Olivia was crowned this week's Star Baker thanks to her highly impressive Schichttorte.

If you're wondering what a Schichttorte is, it's a German cake with no fewer than 20 LAYERS!

This was the International-week showstopper from Queenslander Olivia, who took home the Star Baker title thanks to her impressive effort.

If you're looking to make a 20-layer cake any time soon, you will certainly want to heed Olivia's advice!

According to Olivia, the trickiest part is getting all the layers in and out of the oven. Considering there are 20 layers, you're advised to keep the quite thin!

"The techniques that helped me win Star Baker this week, was really making sure that whatever mixture I was doing - whether it was the souffle, whether it was the cheesecake, whether it was the torte mixture - that it was the right consistency," Olivia encourages.

"Roll that batter so that it goes really nice and smoothe, and almost undercook the layers because they're going to sit in the tin for a while."

Olivia's other fantastic tip was to stretch out your praline.

"When you're making praline, so that you can make it edible, right before it cools down just stretch it," she says.

"You get this beautiful cellophane and it is so lovely to eat."
