If you can't get enough sweet treats during isolation, this hack is for you!
It seems like we've all reached peak snacking during lockdown, but if you are still looking for a tasty new treat, you’re going to want to try this.
Vanilla slice toasties are the latest easy-to-make snack going viral and it’s not hard to see why.
Mum Anne shared her discovery on the Aldi Mums facebook page, revealing these toasties with a twist.
“Made these custard puffs from a second hand Aldi sandwich maker with good result,” she posted to the page.
“Perfectly fits a whole puff pastry sheet with no waste or fluffing about with circles.”
Using just four ingredients - including Cottees instant pudding, thickened cream, milk and puff pastry - and her Aldi sandwich maker, she whipped up these custard puffs in a few easy steps.
“Beat Cottee’s instant pudding mix and 100ml thickened cream and 300ml milk (this ratio is only because I didn’t have enough cream but usually I believe people use the opposite ratio.) With thickened cream, the custard will be thick!,” she wrote.
“Cut puff pastry into quarters, fill with a tablespoon custard then another puff pastry layer on top. Close and cook for 5 mins. Can turn machine around if you want to make sure the other side gets touched.”
And the results are delicious!
Not surprisingly, other Aldi mums were quick to jump on board to try this simple treat.
“Ooooh yasssss perfect thing to satisfy my midnight cravings - gonna make them now,’ commented one.
“That’s actually really awesome.” Said another. With a third commenting: “You’re a wizard!! This is great!”
