OzHarvest Teams up CEOS With Top Chefs to Feed the Homeless

Every year Australians throws out $8 billion to $10 billion of food. Now that's a lot of food! Not to mention the four million tonnes of food per annum which we waste nation wide which ends up in landfill.

OzHarvest is dedicated to lowering these staggering numbers and raising awareness around food wastage and providing food to those less fortunate.

One of their biggest annual events,  the OzHarvest CEO CookOff, will kick off again this year on March 7 with CEOS and business executives from around the country cooking with 50 of Australia's top chefs to feed 1,300 homeless and disadvantaged people.

LifeStyle FOOD's own Matt Moran, who is a passionate supporter of OzHarvest, is just one of the big names taking part in the event and will be joined by 150 high-profile business leaders, including Hannah Barnes, General Manager of The LifeStyle Group, who will represent Foxtel.

CEO and Founder of OzHarvest, Ronni Kahn, encouraged the entire business community to get behind the fundraising efforts and to inspire leadership in corporate social responsibility.

“The business sector and its leaders play a crucial role in helping organisations like ours address and find solutions to the issues of poverty, homelessness, hunger and waste,” said Kahn.

Since launching, OzHarvest have saved more than 14,000,000 kilos of good quality surplus food from landfill and have delivered the equivalent of more than 43 million quality nutritious meals to people in need.

Anyone can support the cause by donating to their favourite CEO or chef. Every $1 donated means that OzHarvest can deliver the equivalent of two meals and has a Social Return on Investment value of $5.68.
