Popular peanut butter spread has been recalled

Customers have been urged to dispose of the spread.

One of the country's most popular plant-based peanut butter spreads has recalled due to potentially triggering an allergic reaction to those suffering nut allergies.

Pana Organic 200g Peanut Butter Chocolate Spread is said to contain tree nuts - including cashews and pistachios.

"The safety of our customers is our number one priority and as a company we will do everything we can do to ensure this," the notice states in the food recall statement.

"Any consumers who have a cashew or pistachio allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed."

The statement also confitmed the affected batch has a best before date of May 5th 2021.

Pana Organic's spread is sold at IGA, independent and specialty food stores across Australia.

Any customers with an allergy or intolerance to cashews and pistachios have beem urged not eat the product and return to their local grocery store, where they will receive a full refund.
