Australia’s internationally acclaimed celebration of food and wine, Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is a fortnight-long program of more than 250 events across Victoria. Held annually in March, the Festival attracts more than 300,000 fun-seeking foodies who make the hungry journey to experience Victoria’s produce, talent and lifestyle alongside global chefs, wine identities and trends.
The 2010 Festival returns with a delicious line-up of events including the eagerly anticipated Langham Melbourne MasterClass, welcoming the globe’s trailblazing chefs and wine identities including New Yorks’ David Chang, Copenhagen’s Mads Refslund and UK’s Thomasina Miers.
2010 also welcomes to the heart of the city Metlink Edible Garden, the ultimate food-producing urban garden, and sees the return of Heat Beads® Hawkers’ Market – back by popular demand. Pull up a deckchair for an evening of free outdoor cinema at Federation Square at Barilla Foodie Films, or taste your way around Victoria’s wine regions at Cellar Door at Southgate.
Venture into regional Victoria for over 70 unique events from a five-course nod to Australian garlic off the Great Ocean Road to ‘the lost art of whole-carcass butchery’ on a sheep station near Ballarat.
With more than 100 events for under $100, find something to tickle your palate in the city's top restaurants, down laneways, on rooftops, out in the country air or adrift a seductive ocean breeze. Dates for 2010 are 12 – 23 March.
