How to Throw the Perfect Summer Party

You’re bound to end up hosting at least one get together this summer, whether it's a small gathering of friends or a huge Christmas bash.

Once you've got around to sending out invitations, cleaning and decorating your home, making the perfect playlist, choosing delicious drinks and planning your outfit, it can be easy to overlook what may be the make-or-break factor of your party - the food.

Unless you're planning a full-on dinner party, snacks, nibbles and canapes are the way to go. Here are some of the tastiest treats for your summer shindig.

These delicious little biscuits have been everywhere this year, popping up in specialty stores and the kitchens of domestic gods and goddesses across the country. There are plenty of macaron recipes available online, and there are a variety of delicious flavour combinations to choose from.

If you're a traditionalist, you won't be able to look past vanilla and chocolate, but you may want to treat guests with more adventurous tastes to options such as green tea, rose and salted caramel.

These mini-burgers have been a favourite on menus this year, and they're a fantastic way to feed the masses at your event. Cater to vegetarians by offering a meat-free version with eggplant, hummus and quinoa, and sort the carnivores out with classic cheeseburger and chicken options.

Everyone loves guacamole - and if they don't, they should. Made up mostly of avocado with a few other tasty vegetables and spices thrown in, it's packed full of goodness and has a flavour to die for. Make this in bulk to ensure over-zealous dippers don't deplete your stock before all the guests have arrived, and have plenty of tortilla and corn chips on hand for guests to pile the dip on.
