Pane di Casa loaves are ideal for enjoying as a side dish to meals, with dips and cheeses, or toasted and buttered to create ‘instant’ garlic bread.
They can however, be tricky to make at home. So we asked the experts for their advice to making this delicious bread at home.
Bakers Delight’s Head Baker, Ben Dulloo has also revealed his secrets on creating the perfect authentic Pane di Casa loaf:
1. Pane di Casa is a traditional Italian bread which has been made for centuries. It simply means ‘bread of the home’ as it is such an essential part of Italian life.
2. At Bakers Delight we use just five simple ingredients in our Pane di Casa loaves: flour, yeast, water, oil and salt. We don’t use any preservatives, so it’s just like how your Italian Nonna would make it (if you had one!)
3. The trick is to rest the dough for a minimum of 12 hours to allow the flavour to fully develop
4. We then bake it for customers fresh that day on stones for a thin, crispy crust and a dense, chewy centre.
Pane di Casa Garlic & Herb loaf and Piccolo will be available in Bakers Delight bakeries between 4th – 30th July.
