Nigella, takes the time to explain the reason behind the feast and provides suggestions for possible pitfalls. For your Christmas feast she tells you what to look for when shopping for the turkey and ideas for the left overs (Vietnamese prawn and glass noodle salad.) New Year’s she suggests champagne risotto to use up that open bottle in the fridge.
The recipes don’t only refer to the big feasts. Nigella, has suggestions for a first date dinner (carbonara), dinner with the in-laws (including a delicious apple Charlotte) and general party-time feasts (the (mini crab cakes)
Our favourite chapter is the chocolate hall of fame. Among the mouth-watering recipes in this chapter our pick is the old-fashioned chocolate cake.
Keep an eye out for the handy little tips running along the side of each page. Simple suggestions such as using a piece of dry spaghetti if you do not have a cake tester are invaluable to home chefs.
