Most of us have been guilty at one time or another of wishing we could look a little bit younger. We try various lotions and potions, but the solution to all our aging woes may have been staring us in the face the whole time - food!

Here are the top snacks to include in any healthy eating plans to help retain that youthful glow.

Sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds are rich in vitamin E, which is a fat-soluble antioxidant crucial to maintaining healthy, glowing skin. Vitamin E can help prevent free-radical damage to the skin, which can have a detrimental effect on your appearance.

Add sunflower seeds to salads, muesli or simply eat them on their own as a snack to benefit from the beauty-boosting food.


Soy isoflavones found in delicious edamame have been proven to reduce wrinkles and improve skin firmness in as little as 12 weeks. Similar effects can be found in other soy products like tempeh.

Edamame can be eaten as a standalone snack, sprinkled with a bit of chilli, olive oil and sea salt, or added to accompany a main dish.


Walnuts contain an omega-3 fat called alpha-linolenic acid that helps to make up the lubricating layer that keeps skin supple and moist. These tasty treats also contain melatonin, which has been shown to help regulate sleep, so they work overtime to keep you looking fresh and healthy!


Salmon has long been touted as a skin super-food, with many models claiming they chow down on the fish to keep their faces looking fresh.

Consumption of fish has been linked to acne prevention along with providing that longed-for dewy glow. Add it to your weekly diet and you'll reap the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids!
