Amazing 90-second bread! The easy microwave bread-in-a-mug recipe that's going viral!

This super-easy bread recipe only takes only 90 seconds to cook!

Coronavirus panic-buying has left supermarket shelves empty and no-one wants those frequent trips to local shops and bakeries.

So, it's no surprise, that the internet has gone crazy for simple, practical recipes, like the Navajo three-ingredient flatbread or easy slow-cooker bread. But this new bread recipe is the new favourite.

This simple mug bread - which make a bread-like cake/scone - is perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack and it takes just minutes!

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1/3 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 40g self-raising flour
  • 1/3 teaspoon of plain sugar

To begin, spray the mug with a little oil so your bread comes out after cooking. Then, whisk the egg white in your mug until it is thick and foamy. Then, mix in your lemon juice and baking powder.

Finally, add in the sugar, flour and margarine until completely smooth and combined.

Then, pop in the microwave and cook for 90 seconds.

If you're running low on eggs, or if you're vegan, there are egg-free alternatives.

You can substitute the egg white with 1 mashed banana, 3 tablespoons of aquafaba (the liquid from a can of chickpeas) or 3 tablespoons of water with 1 tablespoon of ground flax.

While it's not going to be as fresh as your daily loaf, it's a pretty good alternative to normal bread, considering it takes just 90 seconds!
