The tourist took to social media, after being "ripped off".
In Australia, we're fans of a nice, refreshing tomato salad. With a glass of wine on a warm day, it can be the perfect light meal.
However, one tourist visiting the Geman island of Amrum was left sorely disappointed by his tomato salad experience. So much so, he posted his upsetting experience on Reddit.
After a long hiking trip through the North Sea mudflats, the user, who operates under the handle Gandi14, popped to a local restaurant to refuel. He was shocked when the tomato salad that he ordered was brought to the table.
For €6, close to $10 AUD, the hungry tourist was served a small plate of plain, quartered tomatoes. “This salad for €6 after a long mudflat hiking tour,” he explained, also posting an image of the dish.
The picture shows a rather sad plate of sliced tomatoes topped with a light sprinkling of chunky chopped onion. The poster also added that the salad did not come dressed, nor was there any trace of seasoning.
Other members of the forum were equally upset and confused about the meal. “So it’s just tomato and raw onion? That’s not a salad, that’s just throwing stuff on a plate,” one said.
"That's the worst salad ever," added a second person.
And another joked: "You should be glad they gave you that many onions. They must have liked you."

Meanwhile, some did not sympathise with the tourist, suggesting that he shouldn't have ordered a tomato salad if he was going to complain about a plate of tomatoes.
One person remarked: “Didn’t you read the menu or ask about it before you ordered it? I don’t know about you, but I read about things before I buy them, especially my food.”
"You ordered this. You choose this. There were other things on the menu and you ordered this. And you post it to [Reddit]? It’s not like this is just “what you got”... You ordered that. And you expect everyone to say 'Oh, how terrible,'" another commented.
