Banana Milk: The New Trend for Coffee Lovers

Forget soy, almond and rice milk - people are now opting for a fruitier flavour with their coffee.

In New York, the birth place of many global food trends, people have started scoffing down the new caffeine offering of one Brooklyn-based eatery.

J+B Design & Café is serving up the new 'it' drink, banana milk coffee, and people are going, erm, bananas for it!

Banana milk is already extremely popular in South Korea, where it is sold pre-packaged, by the bottle. However, the "milk" is also incredibly simple to make at home.

J+B Design & Café's manager, Fumio Tashiro, makes the concoction with a banana, a splash of milk and dash of syrup to sweeten. Although, other recipes insist it's a milk substitute for vegans, and is simply made from blending banana and water.

Needless to say, it's best served over a cold brew!

The alternative to milk offers an interesting flavour to your coffee, without the articifical additives. It also provides an extra shot of potassium to your diet.

Eater website is labelling Banana Milk Coffee as the new Pumpkin Spiced Latte, but the jury is still out on whether the trend will hit Aussie shores any time soon!
