Fans are accusing Streets of "ruining" the classic ice cream!
Who doesn't love to pick up the odd Bubble O'Bill when they want to relive the small joys of youth?
The only drawback is the stick.
If it's a hot day, you have to deal with ice cream dripping down your hand. Sometimes, the stick dislodges from the ice cream, and you're stuck with a balancing act.
Thankfully, earlier this month, Bubble O'Bill manufacturer, Streets, announced the release of the tub version of the Aussie ice cream.
But now, fans have had time to sample the product, and they are not happy.
Some even claim that Streets has "ruined" the Bubble O'Bill ice cream, producing a tub version that lacks the signature bubblegum nose.
The Bubble O'Bill on a stick that we all know and love has a bubble gum nose and a crunchy chocolate backing. Shoppers assumed that these key textural and flavour elements would be part of the new ice cream.
To the disappointment of eager fans, the tub contains chocolate and caramel ice creams, swirled together, studded with bubble gum candy pieces.
Many are unhappy with the lack of a gumball, as that is a key part of the ice cream.
One upset ice cream shopper said: "They have ruined the Bubble O’Bill tubs with stupid little round lollies that taste like crap!"
Another commented: “Better be more than one bubblegum in them!"
In response to the complaints about the new ice cream tub, Streets released a statement.
“The people of Australia have spoken, and we listened," they said. "We know Bubble O’Bill’s nose is an iconic part of his identity, which is why we are giving fans the opportunity to win his nose to enjoy with the brand new tubs.”
Fans of the ice cream have the opportunity to win packs of iconic Bubble O'Bill noses via the brand's Facebook page.
To get your hands on a bag of famous noses, you need to comment your most precious Bubble O'Bill memory.
"All you cowboys and girls better earn it," the Facebook page explains. "Tell me your favourite Bubble O’Bill memory and you might just win yourself a limited edition Bubble O’Bill gumball lolly-bag. Yee-haw!"
The competition is open until February 5.
