A Melbourne hotel is serving cheese high tea for the rest of the year

Cheese-lovers, this one's for you.

Forget egg and watercress, there's a new sumptuous way to enjoy high tea and it's every cheese-lovers' dream. Yes, a Melbourne hotel has heard our prayers and swapped jam and cream for gouda scones with whipped spiced beurre noisette butter. It already sounds better.

After a successful run earlier this year, Melbourne's Westin hotel is bringing High Cheese back and they're keeping it for the rest of the year. How gouda!

The hotel are partnering with Maker & Monger to create a deliciously cheesy, three-tiered tower of sweet and savoury assortments every day from 5pm in the Allegro restaurant, and from 11am in the lobby lounge on the weekends.

The three-tiered tower, which looks like a work of art, celebrates cheese in all its forms - from baked Normandy Camembert aux Calvados and Marcel Petite Comté Réservation custard tarts to ricotta cassata cannoli.

Whether you prefer savoury cheesy bites or the sweeter desserts, there's something for every cheese-lover in this High Cheese.

And it wouldn't be the same without sipping from some china, so keeping with the tradition, the hotel are offering bottomless pots of tea, coffee or hot chocolate if you're so inclined. But if you'd like to swap to the ultimate cheese pairing, the hotel can also recommend the perfect vino to match.

This delicious High Cheese is $70 per head and can be booked through The Westin's website

If this isn't the best way to start Christmas, we don't know what is.
