8 Salad Ideas for Your Christmas Lunch

If you're sick of the same, boring salads every Christmas - try your hand at something new.

If you're attending a Christmas lunch, it's common to be asked to bring a dish. It could be a dessert, an entree, or a side, but more often than not, it's a salad!

Here are a few ideas from our recipe bank to get those creative cooking juices flowing!

1. Warm Haloumi Salad

This Neil Perry recipe uses recipes you know will work together. The salty haloumi is complemented by the light and fresh grapes, mint and pomegranate seeds. Bonus points for working with the Christmas colour scheme!

2. Caramelised Beetroot and Zucchini Salad

This recipe has a sumac dressing, giving it a delicious Mediterranean touch. This salad will work great with a main course of lamb.

3. Southern-Style Crispy Chicken Salad

Sure, this recipe is more about Donna Hay's incredible fried chicken - but, combined with the buttermilk dressing, it all works a treat! 

4. Sesame Crusted Tofu Salad

Paul West's recipe from River Cottage Australia will please any vegetarians at the Christmas party! It also includes an option to make your own tofu, if you're game.

5. Salmon, Avocado and Watercress Salad

Thank Nigella for this colourful dish. Full of flavour and healthy fats, this recipe is healthy and easy to whip together if you're doing it last minute.

6. Quirky Carrot Salad

Nutritionist Lola Berry created this simply recipe. With only two steps, just combined your ingredients and drizzle some olive oil and lime juice and you're set!

7. Lamb and Carrot Meatballs Tabbouleh Salad

Ewww! Terribel But what kind of dead flesh did you find in your salad and please tell me where you recommend not to go. This site seems to have nice Xmas salad recipes to make - not eat and seem quite awesome. I like #4 best but they are all great

a lot of them were not salad. i had salad (kale capsicum, beetroot, parsley, tomato, onion) with white beans, black and red rice for lunch. a lot of these had dead flesh in them. disgusting and not salad.
