7 Ways You Can Get on Board the Harissa Trend

Everyone's favourite new hot sauce is burning up the culinary scene!

Traditionally used in North African cuisine, harissa has finally arrived in mainstream cooking - with many predicting it's the next big hit spice.

It has been dubbed the new sriracha sauce, which means you'll soon be seeing it on every meal in the trendy dining scene.

Here are five ways you can jump on the harissa trend.

While harissa is of Tunisian origin, it's commonly associated with Moroccan cuisine. Jamie Oliver is a BIG fan of harissa, featuring the ingredient in a number of his recent recipes.

2. Paul West's Harissa Butterflied Chicken

Many wouldn't expect to find a slice of North Africa in the Tilba, but Paul West is heating up his chicken with a tasty harissa marinade. Perfection!

3. Jamie's Harissa Falafels

Another Jamie Oliver recipe (we told you he loved harissa!), these falafels have a bit more kick than your average mix.

4. Moroccan Style Goat Kebabs

5. Baked Kataifi Prawns with Muhumara Sauce

Harissa can also work well with seafood, just try these baked prawns with a delicious side sauce. Perfect for a summer BBQ!

6. Salmon and Broccoli Arancini

These healthy arancini balls come with a delicious harissa-yoghurt dipping sauce on the side. If the arancini isn't your thing, the sauce is a beloved dip for many types of accompaniments - from pastries, to sweet potato fries, to plain old crackers!
