20 meals kids and teens will love

We've got some healthy, tasty and easy dinner ideas for the family!

Cooking as a parent is basically an engineering exercise in how to get the most vegetables into a meal without your kids noticing, right?

Hitting the notes in terms of nutritional value, budget, time and taste can be a real test for any home cook. Throw a fussy eater into your brood and you're practically doomed!

To help in this area, we spoke to French Executive Chef Sebastien Houillon, who claims overcoming fussy eating isn't always about what you put on the table, but rather about building a positive relationship with food.

"Children often become fussy eaters when they hear their parents talk about their food distastes in front of other adults," Sebastien explains.

"When kids hear 'my child doesn't like this, or this or this,' it confirms that it’s okay to not eat these foods. To overcome fussy eaters, I’d recommend that parents turn it around and talk about the foods their kids do like, rather than those they don’t. For my own kids, I like to tell them that I’m the best chef in the world, so they always try what I give them!"

However, Sebastien concedes it certainly doesn't hurt to put a tiny bit of strategy into the food you're serving your kids.

"I suggest including a combination of their favourite ingredients, presented in a fun way," he told Lifestyle FOOD. "If you are trying to get kids to eat new foods, it’s always a good option to ensure they are hungry when dinner comes around… This way they’ll be willing to try anything you put in front of them!"

If you don't have time to cook your own meals, you can order some of Sebastien's meals online with Gourmet Dinner Service and have them delivered to your door.
