River Cottage Spring

About the Show

About the Show

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingsall is back with a brand new seasonal series. With fresh produce bursting into season across Britain’s fields, allotments and gardens as spring reaches its peak, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall cooks and tastes his way through the abundant crops on offer in River Cottage Spring, the definitive guide to locally produced, seasonal food. Hugh raids the River Cottage kitchen garden to show viewers how they can enjoy a slice of any season, River Cottage style, where ever they live, with tantalising recipes for asparagus, artichokes and of course lamb. To prove that growing your own is practical and affordable, Hugh has challenged five families from Bristol to turn an acre of derelict city land into a fruit and vegetable plot. They’ll even be keeping pigs, right in the heart of the city. How will the urban families get on with creating a country idyll in their concrete jungle and will they meet their budgetary target?
