Spain On The Road Again

About the show

Ride along with Oscar® winner Gwyneth Paltrow, chef Mario Batali, author/journalist Mark Bittman and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols on the unscripted, anything-goes, cross-country road-trip, Spain...On The Road Again. Their fun and spontaneous journey showcases the culinary pleasures of Spain, along with the country’s art, history, culture and music. The foursome travels through the Spanish countryside and historic towns, often going where few tourists can. Surprises await the gastronomes around each corner. From the seaside cliffs of Mallorca to the bustling tapas bars and majestic museums of Barcelona, the 13- episode series takes viewers on a region-by-region tour of Spain, exposing them to the best culinary and cultural experiences on the Iberian Peninsula. Paltrow and Batali tour the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao with its architect, Frank Gehry, and enjoy dinner with REM frontman Michael Stipe, while Bittman and Bassols spend the evening with one of Spain’s most famous chefs and bon vivants, Juan Mari Arzak.

Galician Style! A little disagreement, the empana is not only made with chorizo and bacon, is not the most common. The most tipical empanada is with tuna. Another typical empanadas is with zamburiñas, octopus, mussels, meat, chiken and mush, codfish... The other thing about the tv program, in Galicia we have a beautiful scenery, It does not appear!!

Hi! I am Spanish and I was curious about GP's show so I decided to check it out. Do they really have to move around in a car? I mean, most of the Spanish villages they visit are small, designed and meant to be walked through. Couldn't they use their legs and get in touch with the people? Another thing which upsets me is Claudia's attitude in the show. She acts stupidly and speaks a really weird Spanish when she talks to GP, it sounds ridiculous coming from a Spanish-speaking person. Besides, the choice of the settings is not the best one to be chosen neither the recipes... Sorry to watch a poor show which could have been much better. However, if you still want to come to Spain you'll be more than welcome. Un saludo desde Barcelona!

I'm afraid I agree with Christine. I used to live in Spain and if you want to see about the real food of Spain watch 'Wild gourmets in Spain'. Authentic and all about the country and food. I think there are some good travel and food shows out there but they are pushing this one. All chat in the car and no real feel for La Viva Espana.

I originally never had much of an interest to visit Spain, however, after watching only a few episodes i too am ready to hop on the next plane to Spain and join them. I love the music, the long passionate discussions had about food, being able to watch Spanish people cook authentic/traditional dishes with such passion, the chatting about life in general, and all of the laughs that are had along the way. I alsmost feel like I am on the journey with them. It is very diiferent to the other food and travel shows, and this is another reason why I enjoy watching the episodes.

I too have been to Spain several times and the show is fantastic. The guys are real people who are passionate about food having a good time and it comes across in everything they do. It makes me want to jump on the next plain to Spain and join them.

Everyone's entitled to their view. To me, it's all about 4 interesting characters having fun exploring food and drink in Spain and, in doing so, making you feel good about life in general. Not a bad outcome, in my opinion. I've watched all 12 episodes... and would watch them all again. I hope they make a follow-up... :-)

I am very disappointed with this show. I have been to Spain several times and love this country. But it is spoilt for me by it being more for American style viewing. All the chatting and laughing in the car instead of us seeing some real scenery, the same background music every programme. Yeah they are having fun amongst themselves but I won't bother watching the other 7 episodes.
