Nigella's Christmas Kitchen

About the show

Christmas is a time when we are prepared to spend whole days stirring, stuffing and marinating – and Nigella’s mantra is that cooking should be fun – if it isn’t, then you’re not doing it right! Domestic Goddess Nigella Lawson presents a new series of Nigella’s Christmas Kitchen. It covers everything she loves, food, entertaining, home and family. Across this five-part seasonal special Nigella brings to viewers some very special and delicious Christmas recipes. Nigella believes that Christmas is both a season to be treasured and a state of mind that has to be achieved by relishing long established routines and welcoming new ones too. It’s so much more than just one ‘fractious’ meal. It is also the opportunity of re-discovering slow cooking, preserving and the unhurried joy that Christmas can be. In these five festive programs Nigella shares her Christmas culinary short cuts and tips, plus recipes that can be prepared in advance, frozen and revived at Christmas time for stress-free suppers, topped off with the Domestic Goddess’ tips for throwing the best Christmas party!

"Christmas food is the best sort of food because it's about proper, unpretentious home cooking. Feasting isn't about formality: it's about providing friends and family with good things to eat." Nigella Lawson

I love her NOW. She is back on the FoodNetwork, which can be terribly stodgy, audition new cooks only to have them be VERY boring, and has the crappiest website in the universe. So why do I watch it? Nigella, Alton Brown, and 5-ingredient Clare. Nigella I love because she makes a brunch out strata and cake, waving any darkness about carbs out of her breezy way. 'Atta, girl!

I'm a mad committed fan. I can't wait to get the recepie for the cheese egg souffle dish that was on the other day, I think it was the same show as the vanilla cake baked in the cake tin mentioned above. I think the tin was in the shape of christmas trees and she dusted them with icing sugar. Have you tried googeling kitchen suppliers or speciality cake places? Let em know how you do.

She cooks food we can all cook at home and feel like goddesses. She is as beautiful as the food she presents to us. My ambition is slowly buying all her books. You cannot fail her recipes. She makes you feel like a star in your kitchen. We love you Nigella. I have become popular at home. Even impressed my friends. My boys call me the queen at home now. All i need now is my tiara. I love her food. There is something comforting about it. She is a real woman who loves eating food and shows us its okay to enjoy one of lifes pleasures in life. Thanks Nigella.

    December 2008

the thing is with nigella she cooks food that is often simple, but inspired by traditional recipes but with a fresh leash on life! and as the french say you cant cook without butter which she fully well knows. i love nigella because she has the pasion for home cooking which we can all do instead of gordon who cooks in a chefs kitchen or jamie who uses a camping hob. when i think nigella i think simple honest food
