I met Miguel on Saturday at The Maitland Taste Food and Wine Festival. He was very friendly, and dispite what people above have said, he was neiter "over the top" or "full of himself". He was a genuinely nice guy who has a passion for cooking, and took the time to stop and speak to us and even pose for a happy snap. If people don't like him, simple, don't watch. I don't see the need to write comments on a public forum simply to put someone down.

    February 2010

Very mixed reactions from this show, but at the end of the day I somehow managed to enjoy it! I think the setting really helps, you just get that laid back feel from watching the show, even if Miguel is over the top!! I think Sarah Clare was great with the drinks, I think she should have her own show!! Now that would be something different, a show focusing on cocktails and the like!!!

Miguel is amazing I dont care if you are over the top that is how I am when I cook with a few of the delicous cocktails also featured in the show. We live in the tropics and this is how we want to cook simple and with ingredients so bountiful in our wonderful part of Australia.

I was wondering if anyone has the recipe where Miguel made a prawn dumpling a few weeks ago. I got the tail end of the show unfortunately and by the time I got a get a pen, it had gone. It was definitely a whole prawn, and I think it was coriander, chilli, pine nuts. If anyone could help would be great.

OMG! What would my last meal be....? Strawberries, vanilla, caramel, chocolate and Miguel!!!! If all Spaniards are like him I'm moving to Spain!!!!

  • Roger
    January 2010

He's pretty entertaining but the recipes are really simple and hardly tv quality. Plus, he claimed that "papillote" is French for butterfly, when it actually means "paper or tinfoil for cooking" and butterfly in French is actually "papillon". Don't mean to nitpick but the producers should get something so basic correct. He does present with panache, which is (essentially) the show's only saving grace. P.S. are the sexual innuendos really necessary? A particular example that stands out is the episode when he gets women at the races to taste some white, sticky meringue-y concoction, then proceeds to cajole them into trying his "skewer". o.o

  • Giulia6
    January 2010

Yummy, yummy.... apart from what a few of you have said, I still think he is very sexy and prepares great food... I would love for him to cook for me!!!!!

Recorded the show and watched it last night with my children, aged 20 & 14. Both commented Miguel was completely over the top and put on, the 14yo said if he doesn't wake up and tone down nobody will watch after the next episode. The 20yo simply said he was a ... and would prefer Boys Weekend. Me, he was trying way too hard first time around and nervous. Let's see what the next episode delivers as he relaxes.
