About the show

Chef Adrian Richardson and nutritionist Janella Purcell return with a brand new series of Good Chef Bad Chef, where they bring their distinctive styles of cooking to the screen for a food showdown.

From Adrian’s love of meat and full-flavoured food creations, which threaten to expand the waistline, to Janella’s natural and nutritious recipes, made to work with the body not against it, each dish will challenge viewers to decide what’s good for them. On your show dated 30th January you made a glutenfree dairyfree vegetable lasagne using SPELT FLOUR. Spelt Flour is NOT GLUTENFREE FOR A COELIAC. Please comment.

What a fantastic show, great ideas including a wonderful mix on recipes!!! However, I can't stand Janella!! she ruins a great show with her awful personality! Adrian is a champ and displays such a happy and positive nature! Adrian you rock, Janella, try and chill out and take a leaf out of Adrian's book...(so to speak)!

Adrian I love the show good chef bad chef, I enjoy watching you taste Janella's offering and not making a face as some of it sounds awful and the ingregients are not in my normal shopping list. You both look as if you are having fun and that is the main thing love it.

I have just found out that they have taken Huey off next week to put on a new series of Good Chef/Bad Chef. Why couldn't they put it on after Judge Judy and put Huey on after. At least they can appeal to both fans. I have to admit I prefer watching Huey to that show. I think that Huey is the best.

i watched the show this morning (13/11/11) where Janella made a starter dish which looked absolutely delicious. she said it was quick and easy and also very healthy. i would love to make this recipe but did not catch the name and can't quite remember the ingredients!! can anyone help me?

Love this show but the recipe details are a bit lax. For eg. Adrian's soft shell fiery Mexican tacos looked amazing on TV but the recipe seems incomplete. The first two steps of the sauce component seem to contain far fewer ingredients than the ingredients list. Can you pleas re-list as I am keen to make this dish.

Adrian I love you but your recipes could be better with amounts of ingredients the caramel panna coot a how much is a little water when making the caramel? With the gelatin leaves which type, please try and remember we are not all chefs out here. I am a mum who loves your show.

On the show I just watched, Adrian added tomatoes to his Algerian Chicken with Braised Figs and yet in the recipe here on the site, there are no tomatoes. Should I add the tomatoes or not and if so what quantity? It's very confusing when the printed recipe on the site disagrees with the program aired.

I love this show, theyre great to watch and the concept is fabulous. But what I cant understand is why does Adrian never stick to the theme of the show...on the Scottish show hes making Indian, on the quick show he made a complicated dish, on the low fat show he made chocolate ice cream..whats the point of having a theme...

I say THANKGOD for Janella. Too many chefs are making loaded fat and extremely unhealthy foods that, i and many of my healthy conscious friends have stopped watching any cooking shows. Janella is fantastic. Hence the show being called 'Good chef, bad chef'. Bravo Janella for being a minority to this industry that's turned to unhealthy and FAT EATING. :)

I do like this show but janella needs to learn to chill out. Adrian makes some amazing meals and i don't see why we have to keep being told "don't make that" i don't see the point in having her on the show if she is going to be like that everytime Adrian does something and speaking to him like he is a child wont help anything either. I do like janella's meals but honestly her attitude turns me off,

Hi Did anyone see todays episode where Adrian made the pork. How did he get the crackling to crackle like that with the lid on the casserole dish or did I miss something. I answered the phone for only a second & I got back to see the dish come out the oven. Thanks so much

I love the show but agree Janella needs to a little more tolerant of others. It is great she is showing another way to cook but she is not the be all and end all of cooking. I was watching this morning and she made a pesto using almonds which looked great but she added a peanut butter type ingredient but never said what it was, can anyone help.

I also love this show, especially since Adrian is now taking on the role of 'bad chef', but have to agree with Huong le's comments. I find janella very quick with negative comments about Adrians food, yet he is so polite and positive about her food. I think she needs to calm down and give up the 'rolled eyes' and smirky looks and not be so competative, negative. She really comes across with a nasty vibe at times. Apart from this I really love the show.

  • Huong Le

I am a fan of Good chef Bad chef, Janella is very funny but lately Janella seems to show signs of not able to play well with others. Janella should watch back the segments of "Beetle Leaves" and "Chocolate truffles" to see for herself how she speaks to Adrian and to learn from Adrian on how to share and be kind. Janella actually told Adrian to "get away" when he was asked if he could help. Janella needs to allow Adrian to impart knowledge to the audience. We watch to learn new information. Janella must think that Adrian says things for her benefit and gets very shirty. Please understand there is an audience who wants to hear what both of you have to teach us

oh my gosh undercoverjanh8er, these are such hard words. everyone should just hold hands and bake a cake filled with love and rainbows and just be happy. positivity is the message here people, there's no room for being abusive and saying harsh things about our sisters. positive energy should be the aim of the game everyone, why not just embrace each other's differences. happy people = happy world. having said that don't *** with undercoverjanh8er.

okay everyone let's be serious. janella is a pain in the rectum. she chews like a big fat pig and looks as if she eats pigs trotters and protein shakes all day, and then comes on the show and tries to make herself looks amazing by eatings celery sticks and lentils. she is a large large woman which obviously shows that she has no self control and cannot stick to her 'air diet'. i think they need to get rid of this woman so she can go and roll around in the pig pen.

I dont like Janella one bit she is an uptight so and so!!!! What is with her thinking she is so much better than Adrian and hes so nice to her i think someone behind the scenes needs to realy sit down and look at these comments about her and change it its doing my head in!!! If this is meant to be part of the show its terrible and not going to work you are losing viewers over this! Listen to the people who watch your show!

I love the concept of this show, and I love Gary and now Adrian. But I find Janella so condescending and uptight. She gets so defensive and yet has little underhanded comments at Adrian. Sometimes I think I can see some 'strain' between the two. I think she appears high maintenance. I am a fan of the idea of seeing a full fat version and a healthy option I just think I would prefer someone other than Janella. Only my opinion. and not trying to force it onto anyone else. just throwing it out there.

I agree Amz. Janella seems so 'full on' and yes, condescending. It always appears like Gary and now Adrian go out of their way to say her food tastes fabulous and making her appear 'Right' about everything, and yet she is so belittling toward well established respected chefs. I want to see both recipes without the snide comments from Janela.

  • Teena

I think good chef bad chef is a great show... the banter between Janella & Adrian is funny as... to those of you who can't take a joke there's no need to personally attack Janella she is just having a little bit of fun, I'm sure if Adrian had a problem with it he would say something, he's big enough to take care of himself... If you don't like the banter change the channel, you're the one in control... Don't lower yourself to nasty personal attacks...

Love the show guys keep it up...Soooooo much better than Huey....!!!!! =]

hey janella do you think that you could say somthing nice about adrians dish instead of rapping yourself up. because i think adrian is great and iv learnt soooo much from his cooking skills. and adrian always complements you. you need to wake up to yourself because the only dishes iv cooked was adrians. they are delicious. p.s also you should be the bad chef and adrian can be the good chef.

My mother loves this show, and personally, I like it as well. We watch it every afternoon. However, my mother has taught me table manners. Table manners, that Janella and Adrian don't. Janella is worse. Her chewwing is discusting! Even my ennoying brother can do better than that! It is terrible and it gets worse when she is eating things that tend to be chewy! I like this show, but, I love Huey. No, bad thoughts agianst the show but, I like Huey better. Sorry to say, but I think that it is the truth.

I've been wishing for a program that showed alternative recipes to the delicious but so bad for you recipes that are mostly presented. Just like to eat healthy most of the time with only occasional indulgences in the "wrong" stuff and yet I like my healthy ones to make me want more. We all know we eat too much meat, fats and sugar and yet don't know how to make the good food taste good - at least that's my experience. Love the program.

I think her and Gary Mehigan work quite well together. His calm professionalism keeps her manner (or lack of?) in the right perspective and he, basically, takes little notice of her. Way to go Gary. More of him, please... Actually, I'd like to see a show with Gary and George (rom MasterChef Australia)together. What a team that would be - and we'd learn stuff! Janella has got to be the most irritable and retentious on set personality I have ever seen. Im not sure how Adrain does it. From what I have witnessed she has very little to contribute to the show and even then most of it lacks substance! Janella should do Adrian and channel ten a favour by giving it up. God help whoever ends up having her as a mother in law.

I watch this nearly everyday, and i HAVE to say before i burst, coz my partner is getting annoyed with my moaning. Janella is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo judgemental !!! I dont see adrian ever telling her off for eating healthy, but EVERY damn recipe he makes, she makes snide remarks about the oil, butter, salt, and pats him on the back like a child for using healthy ingredients ! On the rare times she tastes his food, she takes the tiniest bit, and makes faces. She needs to cook her food, and let adrian cook his, EVERYONE knows janella you dont like unhealthy food, but funnily enuff, she bangs on about it when shes bigger than adrian, go figure !

I have to be frank here. I have a family member who relies on this show to get through her day. It is what keeps her going. I have a complaint. 4pm is way too early to be showing this, when people have school, or uni, or unicycle lessons. My family member found out today that her bus is late, so she has missed it. Thanks a lot janelle. Because of this, she has raged at the bus shelter, broke it, as well as breaking her hand, and bleeding almost to death. She is now in intensive care and they don't think she is going to make it, and this is janelle's fault. So inconsiderate. Janelle need to pull her head out off her a** and go make some more tofu and stop ruining everyones lives.

well twilight. i'm glad to say that she has been discharged and is on the road to rocovery. she had a 12 hour surgery and got discharged about an hour ago. we just had dinner, and she's about to go for a run then go to bed. we've spoken, and we will not be watching this disgraceful program anymore.

    • Twilight
      February 2011

It is the station that sets the time for these programmes. It is not Janella's fault. Maybe your family member should buy a DVD recorder so that she can record the show so that if she can't get home on time, she will be able to watch it later. I am upset that they took Huey off TV, but I didn't smash up a bus shelter. I think that she needs some kind of medication to help control her moods. Hope she will be OK though.

I have to say that I do not like Janella's superior, condescending attitude towards Adrian's recipes and the way she looks at him as if he knows nothing about cooking and the way she picks at his food as if it was poison. I think he deserves a better partner on the show. Isn't it about time channel ten told Janella to start changing her attitude as it really shows!!!

    • Hiedi
      February 2011

Sounds like ''Jennifer'' is Janella lol She doesnt need to eat the chicken or meat, but she does make horrible faces when trying his food. Good chef bad chef, totally understand the concept, and like the idea, but it can be done without her mocking and making sly comments at every recipe ! She chooses to eat healthy, she doesnt need to make people feel bad if they choose not too, its a free world! I can soo see her making sly comments in resturants if someone orders something not quiet up to her healthy standards ! Im sure there is alot of other ''healthy'' women out there that could make a very nice non judgemental host to adrian ! Hes fabulous and i think he could pull that show off on his own!

    • Jennifer
      February 2011

Ummm ***...what does the title of the show say...Good Chef Bad Chef, do you think that maybe the whole concept of the show is that Janella (good chef) is supposed to mock what Adrian (bad chef) cooks because it may not be so healthy for you. She doesn't have an attitude that's what the role is!! She doesn't pick at his food like it was poison. For your information she doesn't eat red meat or chicken as it is hard to digest for some people. She is also a very successful naturopath, nutritionist, herbalist and dietician and feels as though we could all be a little better off without so much fat dairy products and refined goods in our diet! Without Janella there the show would be nothing!

Just watched their show on Mexican food, neither have any idea what they are talking about, at least say it's their interpretation rather than calling it Mexican, that "gaucamole" was as far from mexican as you can get, and why do they think paprika is such a mexican ingredient . Oh yea, there is only one way to pronounce quinoa and mexicans don't really use chedder cheese.

i'm also looking for a recipe, not sure what it's called, it was a dessert that had raspberries, mango, silken tofu with apple juice and agar agar any ideas anyone.? it was on TV today.

Can't stand Janella. She is nasty, dull, and treats Adrian appallingly. He listens attentively to her whilst she prepares her dull dull vegetarian dishes, yet when it's Adrian's turn to cook his dishes, she treats him with such disdain. It's like she is mocking all of us foodies who don't mind cooking with, gasp, BUTTER... Can someone PLEASE tell me how she got this gig. JANELLA, GO HOME...

    • Jennifer
      February 2011

Coz i do beleive ''jennifer'' is janelle, id say u just proved how nasty u are LOL Saying that about ur co-host is appalling! Just proves how threathened u are. Enough negetive comments about janellas attitude, im sure, they will give her the axe. So best u get writing those cook books ! Totally love how she shows alternatives to certain foods, thats great, but no need for the attitude!! (ps, i dont think id want to meet her, id pass on that lol soo couldnt imagine her warm and caring!)

    • Jennifer
      February 2011

Um duh...the show is called Good Chef Bad Chef... her mocking the recipes is the wait for it...whole concept of the show!!! Some very successful professionals like Janella (she is a naturopath, nutritionist, herbalist, dietician you know) believe that GASP we could be better off without butter in our diets and shows alternatives. How dare you call her nasty! She is the most warm caring and sharing person you would ever have the pleasure of meeting. It may look like Adrian is listening intently and doesn't interrupt...that's because he can't think of anything smart or intelligent to contribute.

  • Roslyn46
    February 2011

Thanks Janella as I'm reducing my wheat and gluten intake you give me handy hints on how to go without....without going without!!!! lol!

Then we would have" bad" chef (Adrian is really a very good chef!) and really, really bad chef!

    January 2011

Heya Janella, love your recipes, keep up the good work! And to all those people that still like Huey...you're probably all fat and unhealthy!

    • Joana
      January 2011

Just because we still like Huey doesn't mean that we are fat and unhealthy. Huey has actually lost a lot of weight and he has said on his shows that if you are watching your weight, then use low fat products.

  • Nin
    January 2011

Sue, couldnt agree with you more, Huey has to go!!! He does a max of 3 recipes on a good day, you sit there and watch him cut out pastry, or crack 10 eggs into a bowl or worse still watch him cut up 2kgs of tomatoes!!!??? He is a has been and is more full of self promotion than passing on cooking tips. Bring on something like GCBC...although I think I prefer Adrian over Gary...

    • Sue
      January 2011

See my comment to Bernard 11 days ago, Nin. All chefs should walk their talk and looking at Huey, I know who I would rather watch. Love both Adrian and Janellas recipes.

I miss Huey - but these guys obviously capture a different market...

    • Sue
      January 2011

TV chefs are a walking, talking testament to the food they cook and consume. Huey is an overweight unhealthy looking specimen who is always out of breath on TV ' cause he had to walk all the way to the oven from the bench! Need I say more? In comparison, Adrian and Janella are fit, healthy, bubbly personalities.

    • Tim
      January 2011

I agree, Huey's show was a whole lot better.

  • Sue
    January 2011

I love this show...such easy, healthy food. And I love that you keep it so simple. Please get rid of Huey and he's overcooked, oversweet/fat/old fashioned food. Janella serves up 21 century food the way it should be....fresh and unadulterated.

  • Karen
    January 2011

    January 2011

I have to agree with Milly and just have to write in and please ask the producers to tell Janella to calm down on the battle of the sugar and butter with Gary. YES we get it - your recipes have no sugar no butter - that's the point of the show - pleeeeeeease stop going on and on with every move and turn when Gary cooks his recipe. You are not better than. Great show, great concept, annoying host.

  • Milly
    January 2011

I can't stand watching Janella, she's always pulling faces behind the other chefs back...that says to me that she thing she's better than the other chef. There is certainly is a tug of war with power between the two of them. Too painful to watch.

  • Fiona
    January 2011

Is this the show where rice milk was used?? I was told about it (as I'm in Germany so can't watch the show just yet) and it was so fabulous to hear, as many of my friends and family have taken years to accept that I choose rice milk! Some still think I'm crazy. Great to hear it's hitting the television :)

    January 2011

I am liking this show so far.. only seen a couple of episodes. I have special dietary needs. I am allergic to eggs and to lactose, and find it hard to find recipes that use one or both of there ingredients. Most things I can just leave the cheese out of.. but what do I sub for eggs. I don't eat meat.. fish and some chicken are ok.

Saw Good Chef Bad Chef for the first time today and I thought that it was great. At first I was a bit sorry that they took Huey off, but I liked the show and I thought that that afghan food looked very nice even though it mightn't be afghan food in the slightest.

  • Susan Dinh
    December 2010

I like watching the show but Janella should watch her mouth. Saying ingredients or food is "disgusting" is insulting to the culture it belongs to. Be a little bit more sensitive. Having a profession in all things good doesn't make you right.

  • Jase
    December 2010

    December 2010

The show is great and Gary is surprisingly likeable compared to his persona/personality on MasterChef Australia but janella is very very annoying and I think quite a few people here will agree with me. She comes across as very holier than thou and whilst Gary is always very gracious and full of praise for her food, she is constantly criticising his food even though I feel her food isn't all that much better. To me, it is more important to eat in moderation than to abstain. Furthermore, I am surprised that as a nutritionist, she strongly advocates tofu and does not seem to realise that there has been articles written about the harms of processed soy foods. I agree that there can be articles written for and against just about any food and that's why I believe more in moderation than abstinence.

    • Sue
      January 2011

All soy foods other than fermented soy (tofu, miso and tempeh) are garbage!

    November 2010

Great show! Gary and Janella's banter cracks me up, even though I sometimes think Janella could chill a bit with the die-hard "must eat healthy unprocessed stuff" attitude. Each to their own, I say! ;)

Im trying to find a place in Adelaide where you can buy Carob Molasses that Janella puts in her Chocolate almond mousse can anyone help me please.

  • Annette
    November 2010

Enjoy the show but get frustrated with Janella constantly "bagging the so called bad stuff" - PalmSugar, Agave, Maple Syrup and Cane sugar all come from plants - all are processed and all are recommended to be eaten in moderation - agave for instance can cause metabolic syndrome as an example - please give all the facts Janella, not just your biased opinion

  • Fred
    November 2010

Excellent show and dynamic. The producers/post production people may want to check the ingredients list that appears on the screen. Lots of times I notice that there are things missing.

    October 2010

Yes, Great Show! I looooved the English Apple Crumble recipe - thought I had recorded the episode - not alas not! Tried to find it on the site - but alas not there. It involved breadcrumbs with butter top and bottom and an apple filling with an egg and something else. Looked divine so if anyone had the recipe, I'd love to get it! Wish I could remember what else they cooked in that episode! Was it chocolate granache/cake??

I love this show, but I was sad to see Gary use palm sugar in one of his recipes, the jungles, the animals especially the Orangutan of Borneo are being destroyed because of the palm plantations, I'm sure you could use ordinary sugar, The Orangutans will thank you,so will the people that take care of the baby orangutans that are left orphans,,,Julie

Please get your recipes right, or do not call it Hungarian!!!!!

    October 2010

I find Janelle very annoying in that she bags Garry allll the time in him "being bad". I really do not like watching the show when she is ALWAYS rolling her eyes in the recipes (that Garry cooks) that have a little more fat than she likes. I hate the negativity. Although i do acknowledge that she does know alot about health and alternative ingredients for people with food intolerence etd...

Love your show, I try to record every episode so I can go back n try the recipes. I especially love janellas cooking and it fascinates me how she knows so much about the produce she uses and the medicinal content that they have! I've been looking into studying to become a naturapath and Janella has really inspired me to go for it. Thank you for a wonderful show. Oh n I do love Gary's cooking also as it does bring back childhood memories :) keep up the fantastic work!

    July 2010

The only part of this show I don't like is Janella. Gary is entaining and love the food he cooks. She is constantly having a go at Gary with the types of food he is cooking and what is about her and pork. Does she have to make reference to every bit of butter, cream or meat Gary is cooking.

    • Twilight
      February 2011

I am not that keen on Janella either. I think that they should put Huey is her place as he would liven things up a bit.

Please, please, please - bring out a DVD of the show.

Also as much as I like Gary there are countless cooking shows where you can see similar dishes being prepared. However there is very little out there that shows how to prepare healthy dishes using the lesser known wholefoods. So please more, more and more Janella on the Food channel.

Janella, also looking forward to your new cookbook "Eating for the Seasons". I have you first book but there was not much in the way of recipes. From what I understand your next book will be more focused on recipes which will be great .

But keep up the great work.

    June 2010

I Just love this show. I am with Janella, her tips are so useful. I love cooking, love being healthy, am a fitness instructor & Janella's food is just great for me although I constantly deal with a "Gary" of a husband. Have just bought spelt flour, while tamari, mirin, palm sugar & agave nectar are now amongst my favourite ingredients. While cooking today the program was on in the background & Gary cooked one of our favourites, healthily! I almost got it but not quite, Coconut palm sugar sago or tapioca. Bandanas leaves were in there somewhere. Unusually it was healthy & Janella loved it. Can anyone help with the recipe.....please?

I love love love this show.. Janella and Gary are the perfect team. Fantastic recipes with the added side dish of light comedy. Its such yin - yang style of cooking. So refreshing to have a show like this as the others have really lost their spark in my eyes. Am trying to find janella's recipies when she was the cook for the weight loss show... did she do a cook book for them.

Last week i discovered GCBC today i am watching Gary cook his version of fish and chips and telling the audience about the batter bits he used to eat, brought back memories .. When i was a kid our school didnt have a canteen but we did have a Fish and Chip shop close by, we could call in after school and get a bag of the batter bits to eat while we waited for our train, Yummy and just by coincidence i had my cholestrol checked recently its perfect, all those batter bits couldnt have been that bad after all

Janella and Gary - I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this show and the both of you. You are so generous with your knowledge and technics. I also LOVE the dynamics both of you have on television. I discovered not too long ago that my child is gluten intolerant and I am yeast intolerant - and it is rather difficult to find good recipes, technics and products to help me overcome this problem. Your show is making it so much easier for me. I wish you could show the products you purchase as well. Gary, you are fantastic on Masterchef Australia too!!!! My wish is for Good Chef Bad Chef to go on DVD and cookbooks. Well done and thanks for making me laugh at your actions and comments - just LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! it!!!! Thank you Janella, Gary and Lifestyle Food Australia for the knowledge and entertainment. KJJ Sydney, NSW

    June 2010

It seems every single comment here is positive, hopefully this won't get 'screened' for being a criticism... generally I like this show, but as a recent nutrition graduate, current biochemisty postgrad and long-time believer that labelling foods and 'good' or 'bad' based on very small minorities of people who suffer from genuine allergies or intolerances, I am unimpressed. Janella constantly implies that foods such as wheat and yeast are 'bad'. Wheat is a nutritious grain that happens to be a staple in many parts of the world. Wheat/gluten intolerances are, in reality, rare and I just feel that on a show called 'good chef, bad chef' referring to wheat or gluten free dishes as 'good' grossly misleads the public into thinking that eating normal wheat is wrong, when in 99% of cases it isn't. Dietary yeast is also nutritious and is healthy for most people who eat it. It just seems silly, the last thing the public needs is more confusion and distorted, illogical eating habits.

It appears a little information is dangerous...in your case! Janella is correct when she implies that wheat and commercial yeast are" bad" for you. If all of us cut these 2 products out of our diet, we would probably eliminate a lot of processed ... in our diets and feel and look healthier. the only "good" yeast is Brewers yeast. Ps:Wheat is a" genetically modified" version of spelt.l

AND please, Janella. The 'enzyme' myth about raw foods is absolute garbage. There are thousands and thousands of enzymes in plants which exist as a normal part of the plant's physiology when it is still growing in the ground and the general term 'enzyme' as some form of nutrient is ridiculous. Enzymes are components of hundreds and hundreds of different pathways in all living organisms - so which 'enzymes' were you referring to, and what was it that you think they can actually do for a human? Enzymes are just proteins i.e. polypeptides which, when digested are broken down by our own digestive juices, like any protein. To stop Gary from blending vegetables too quickly in a food processor for fear of 'heating them too much and destroying the enzymes' is complete crazy talk. I have researched the HELL out of this topic, it is completely mythological. Please keep it real.

Enough. Proper southern fried chicken is never greasy, that's the sign of a bad cook with too deep and non preheated oil, also put it in warm oven to finish after resting on kitchen towel. It's better to soak your corn in the husks in water about 20 min and grill IN THE HUSKS so you don't have the char. And it's Okra. strong O. orkra is related to a dolphin I think:) Really offensive arrogant creaol bashing. Hasn't new orlean's suffered enough. Thank your ears you cook for the UK.

I have tried to watch Good Chef/Bad Chef a few times, but just can't get into that. I think that James Reesons leaves those two for dead as I think that he is the best. I also prefer Huey as well.

Janella and Gary - my partner and I love your show!!! The aspect we love the most is that you take normal dishes we all love to eat and do the cheffy thing and then the healthy option. It add's to my own food knowledge to know what I can use instead of ingredients high in fat - point in case is the tofu cheesecake - who would have thought that !!!! The one problem was that the recipes do differ and you almost need to keep the show to know what you should be doing. Lifestyle food - you need to re-watch the shows and amend the recipes accordingly as not everyone can re-watch the show.

Fantastic chefs, fantastic food, fantastic show. Even though I'm here in the uk I love to watch this show on uktv. It's good to have a laugh and realise that there are so many different ways to prepare and eat the same ingredients - what you add or don't add makes the difference. I enjoy the friendly, laid back way in which the show is presented - typical Aussie approach! Love it,love it, love it. Hope the series continues to be a success so I can keep on watching.

Not long discovered this show, and already I'm mad about it! Janella's recipes really encourage me to try and stick to a healthier diet, and Gary's are fantastic for special treats once in a while. I laugh so much at Janella's eye rolls and Garys love of yummy over indulgent food.

I think this was one of the best cooking shows - if not THE best I've seen on lifestyle food. The tips and how they really show you all the processes is fantastic and the recipes seem practical. I'm almost tempted to do some of Janella's. They are a great team and am looking forward to the next series. Thank god for IQ - so I can replay the recipes as I'm doing them.

Janella and Gary - you are so good. Love the show... Gary's knife skills are amazing - and things I have learned fantastic (bought quinoa, kelp, umeboshi etc). Best on TV - just tiny bit better than Kiwi Kitchen (Richard Till's wonder around New Zealand - hilarious...).

Janella & Gary! Love watching you guys, I appreicate the gluten & dairy free recipes, I have made the chocolate tart so much I serve it to all my visitors they have no idea that it is gluten and diary free, haha to them, I have also used the base for an apple and fruit tart with custard poured over it! It was a great hit! Keep up the awesome show. Cheers Marg

Gary I have to say that whoever 'submits' your recipes to the Lifestyle Food site isn't following the recipe on the show... as I found out today. The Linzer Torte from the show & the recipe here are vastly different. Part of the method for is Souffle Swiss is missing and the Club Sandwich has some minor differences. Might be worth having a squiz at.

      November 2009

Hi Philippa, Thanks for your comments ... we are glad you are enjoying the show. The recipes we have up on lifestylefood.com.au are all the recipes we are supplied by the chefs. As with all recipes these are intended to be a guide. The chefs may ad-lib on set depending on the ingredients at hand etc and this will cause discrepencies between the on-air and on-line copies. However, please rest assured that these are the recipes we are provided by the chefs initially. We hope you continue to enjoy this great show ...

    November 2009

Omega spread is not margarine. It's a spread made from a mix of healthy oils. And soy milk that's made using whole soy beans and no sugar is a perfectly healthy choice. These are alternatives for those who can't tolerate too much dairy. And for the large population of Australians who suffer with heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity. Thanks to everyone for your lovely feedback on the show, ingredients and recipes. I'm so glad you're enjoying it and getting lots out of it.

    November 2009

Janella is the only tv chef who cooks using foods I use for taste and health. There are so many grains available than just wheat and, not being a meat eater but including seafood in my diet, it's like her recipes have been written for me! And with all those vegies and good oils Janella uses, at last, someone who talks my language.

Any show that inspires people to cook and experiment with food is worth its weight in gold. Gary and Janella are great.

  • Rhonda Tehiwi
    November 2009

Rhonda I don't like people complaining about Janella trying to influence Gary's food choices, its show biz get real everyone its in a woman's nature to want whats good for those we care about. "Janella is no exception." I love to watch their different natures it makes a good show.My first love is the food, wow what they both can cook with the same ingredients is amazing and delicious. I am still learning how to use Janella's ingredients and i hope to cook with her style and attitude in the near future for my families sake. My husband will always enjoy the Gary's type of food which i respect and enjoy cooking for him. Thank you both for Your recipe's and different styles of cooking with the same ingredients.Your show is the best, keep it up and i hope use are both writing a cooking book, i have to say its an effort writing both your recipes and comments down every show."Your Fan"

    • Rhonda Te Hiwi
      November 2009

Hi again it's Rhonda, I am new to Janell's style of cooking and i'm truly in need of education on the types of ingredient that Janella uses. I here her all the time telling Gary what qualities curtain ingredients have and what they do for the body, sadly i'm unable to write all the imformation she gives so i'm asking for that imformation, and where do i buy some of those ingredients at the health store? I have terminal cancer and four obess children, Please if possable i would appriciate Janella's help on helping me change my food shopping, habbits and what i prepare for my family. I love every recilpe Janella cookes and her attitude towards what she puts in her body. I so want that for my family and i."Please educate me" Janella!

  • Sue
    November 2009

I watch the show but don't enjoy Janella's digs at Gary which I find rude. I also don't like her constantly talking about how butter is bad for you. The French use butter a lot and they have not suffered from it. However, Janella does have some good recipe ideas but I don't like the fact that she uses soy milk or an omega spread (margarine) which is unhealthy.

I love this show! Janella and Gary are a great match up, the banter between them is so good and obviously not fake. You can tell that they really do get on well (even when Janella does tell Gary off for his naughty ingredients). No more current affairs for me at 6.30pm now I've found this show! Congratulations on such a fantastic program!
