About the show

Chefs Allegra McEvedy and Paul Merrett (The Best) set out to prove that an economic downturn shouldn’t lead to gastronomic sacrifice as they show six households how to create delicious meals on a budget. In each episode of this hit series, Allegra and Paul spend time with a family, determined to help them eat better for less. Their mission is to totally change the way people approach food — how they shop for it, how they cook it, how they store it, how much of it they waste and as a result, show them how they can slash their food bills, while eating mouth-watering meals every day.

It's excellent to see a show that celebrates the simplicity of food and eating together as a family - if we eat in season and locally grown produce you can save even more & food is best at the peak of it's season. Love the show would love to see an aussie version

I would gladly volunteer for an Australian Version. We waste so much food. How about some tumbel down recipes for us.

The series is currently being shown Down Under and I'm thoroughly enjoying both Allegra's and Pauls recipes and tips for the busy and financially challenged families. Haven't tried any recipes yet but will this weekend test some out on my family. Love to see them do a second series for us Aussies.

I made the economy gastronomy Salmon fish cakes yesterday, a bit more effort than my usual recipe,but they were a big success and there is another meal of them in the freezer.
