Cooking It is a back-to-basics cooking show for the post-Delia generation. No longer is it adequate to learn how to boil an egg – people want to be more adventurous in the kitchen and be able to impress their dinner guests with restaurant quality food. Other food programmes have raised the bar, and encouraged by the likes of Ramsay and Oliver, the nation has acquired a more sophisticated palate – and more than a few cook books. But is it really that easy?
Gourmet expert, Jun Tanaka has just three weeks to take the kitchen klutz and turn them into a confident culinary whiz. In part one of the programme Jun will teach our contributor and viewers at home basic culinary skills and techniques to become a confident home cook. However the stakes are raised in Part Two when our novice cook prepares to face two professional chefs in a competitive cook off which will be judged by a panel of esteemed industry professionals.
This series will take viewers on a gastronomic journey of discovery – demystifying ‘haute cuisine’, giving away the secrets of the professional kitchen, and of course mouth-watering recipes and top tips to become a confident cook in your own home.
