bill's food

About the show

The sun is shining, the surf’s up and its time to savour some great Australian cooking. Bill Granger is once again serving up the simple, fresh food we love to eat. bills food is an award-winning television series with restaurateur and best-selling cookbook author Bill Granger. Filled with no-fuss recipes using easy to find ingredients, bills food ensures that everyone can prepare his appealing and delicious food. Bill shows how to cook meals for every occasion, whether it’s his cheat’s guide to entertaining in style or how to prepare meals that won’t break the bank and perfect dishes for two.

While Bill has always had a keen interest in food, a career in food wasn’t a natural progression for him. He grew up in suburban Melbourne during the 1970’s with a father who was a butcher and a vegetarian mother. Bill says, “I’m a self-taught cook, and my knowledge comes from eating, reading and simply experiencing food. I like to cook the kind of food that people like to eat.”

Bills food is directed by Dominic Cyriax, the award-winning director of UK series, Nigella Bites. This is Dominic’s first series shot exclusively for Australian television.

Bill’s fascination for developing new ideas led him to establish his now iconic Sydney restaurants, Bills and Bills 2, which have been lauded by critics from around the world and are loved by the rich and famous not to mention the loyal band of locals who regularly dine there. He is also one of Australia’s leading food writers having written three international best-selling cookbooks.

“I hope that bills food inspires people to be relaxed with food and have the confidence to realise that food doesn’t have to be complicated to be sophisticated, flavoursome and beautiful,” Bill says.

Trevor Eastment, The LifeStyle Channel’s Director of Programming and Production says, “It’s been very exciting watching Bill’s books, which we use all the time at home, come to life".

I had dinner at Bills in Sydney last night and had a really great meal that made me want to add it to my list of regulars..Really well presented food in generous portions which is a refreshing change in Sydney. The semolina crusted calamari made a crunchy & lighter change to any other fried calamari dishes i have had in a long time and well worth it if it's on the menu!

Think i'll try Bill's for breakfast next week;)
