BBQ Championship

About the show

The first series was a mere showdown, now it’s a championship! This competitive tournament features the world’s top BBQ chefs vying for $100,000 in prize money. The meats have been marinated; the cookers fired and stoked. Watch as the best pit men in America line up ready to do battle, apron to apron. But before they can take home the prize, they must face the gamut of judges – the taste makers and breakers- with a celebrity judge or two to spice things up.

Hey it gave me goosebumps too. The thing is the dry ice bucket is the humane way to get the eel to sleep before dying, but it opted for the 'Go out with a fight' attitude so of course it needed the hatchet job. Anyone going face to face with a moray eel would do the same.

I've also just watched the eel episode and found it quite distressing. Its one thing to cook the meat but its another to watch that kind of torture. Clearly tthe dry ice wasn't that humane and the eel did not just go to sleep. They were desperate to escape. Then the woman had to have a couple of attempts at hacking its head off. Please find more humane ways of killing them.

We've just watched an episode which clearly shows animal cruelty.. The eel episode - where the poor animal is put in dry ice - then gets out - then gets put back - then hacked with a cleaver - then put back in dry ice. That's inhumane treatment. Maybe a lid on the bucket or just chopping it's head off directly would have been better. I'm disgusted that that portion happened - let alone allowed to go to air.
