Went there last night with my husband and two little kids for a quick steak after work. Arrived at 6pm and was the first ones at the place. We ordered our meals and drinks quick smart - that part was the only good experience. We had to wait over an hour for our steaks to arrive and also our kids meals (how hard is it to cook a ham and pineapple pizza?). Two other couples had already arrived and left at that time as they had already had their meals and we as a family was still waiting for our meals. There was at least 5 wait staff that night and my husband also had to get up to order another drink as they all stood around talking over the bar and they just stared at him like there was an issue that he had interupted their converstation when he approached them to order another drink. Once our steaks finally arrived after an hour we took the courage to actaully ask them how come it took so long to cook our steaks? (especially when we were the first ones there) and the attitude the female wait staff threw back at us was unbelieveable. She basically spat back at us with 'what! didn't the girl tell you that your order was mistakenly inputted so we had to recook it again', we replied no. She just grumbled well I hold her to and stormed off with a small apology under her breadth. Therefore, overall our experience was not great. We are both professionals and our kids were very well behaved so we did not deserve at all that kind of service or attitude from a so call venue who prides themselves for their service or steak. This will be the last time we go there for steak...must say the Norman's steak is so much better and at least the staff are much more friendlier and actaully seems to enjoy where they work!
Best steaks in town for best price, always cooked exactly to perfection. The chef is worth his weight in platinum - they must never, ever let him go! The ever-congenial waiting staff are hand-picked for their politeness and attention to detail, and service is usually quick as a whip - average time from ordering to food on table would be 15-20 mins. Can't beat mates rates Mondays or 2-4-1 Tuesdays - I should know, I've been a regular there for the past 2 years!

Steak is ALWAYS cooked perfectly. I order cold blue and never overcooked. Alternatively others I have seen have ordered mediums, rares etc and they have always been perfect. The staff are attentive without being overbearing and are never too far away to notice an empty plate or glass. The waiters/waitresses' are polite and professional and check back during the meal to ensure everything is OK. For me there are many aspects that the Caxton excels in, including atmosphere (relaxed but professional), quality of food and consistency. I send a lot of clients (about 20 per week) to the Caxton for meals and I have never had someone come back unhappy with their experience.

they have great steak and seafood. i love the warm but modern feeling of the dining area. the desserts are absolutely fabulous and you can finish your meal with a good coffee.

In my opinion the Caxton Hotel is far and away the number one hotel in Brisbane - it serves the best food at very competitive prices together with every day specials and offers - all of this in an an attractive setting with wonderful atmosphere.
I have never been disappointed eating there. Best Steaks - absolutely delicious.
