What a disappointment!
The place portrays itself as a fine dining with Eco-friendly and experienced chef. I rate the food as ordinary and infact to some extent below standard to what is expected of authentic Indian fine cuisine.
The Gravy or so called Curry was reused for 3 different dishes ordered with slight variation. Very similar to what you would get at a commercial Indian restaurant. Mutter Paneer had excessive lemon and the fetta Cheese had melted in the curry. The meat in the butter chicken was chared from the outside, quite contrary to the authentic style of cooking a butter chicken.
Butter Naan was COOL instead of being served warm.
Rice was sparingly less for even a single serve and the Eco Friendly plates were nearly falling apart by the end of the meal.
Place is well decorated, but can be noisy on Friday's and Saturdays. The service though was very polite and courteous. Probably worth a visit once, but not the second time.
3 course Dinner of 2 costed $143 (No alcohol included). I prefer the Fusion Indo-Indian restaurant 'Garam Masala' in the city to this.

Saffrron is our favourite restaurant in Darwin. I was puzzled by the last comment until I realised that Saffrron won Favourite Indian Restaurant NT on this site last year and voting is currently taking place again.
Mutter paneer is possibly my favourite dish, while butter chicken is definitely the favourite among the meat eaters, and authentic is the word most often used to describe the food. Then there's the desserts!
Saffrron's efforts toward sustainable dining and supporting local producers are to be commended, I reckon. Don't miss Saffrron if you're in Darwin.

Excellent food... it is sooooo authentic that it reminds me of home and mum's cooking!

I love the food at Saffrron because it is ALWAYS orgasmically delicious, fresh, and more than I need in one meal so I get to take some home the the next day.
