The driving philosophy for the build of Rockpool Bar & Grill was to create a great dining experience, a fusion of the Rockpool ethos and a classic North American steakhouse, with reference made to the grand brasseries of Paris such as La Coupole and Le Dome.
Opening at Crown Complex, Southbank, in October 2006, the restaurant has to date been praised by diners and critics alike, and in much the same way as it's sister restaurant Rockpool, is set to become another of Neil's iconic Australian eating establishments.
A fine dining establishment further enhancing Melbourne as a place to go for fantastic food.
The food is of such a high quality, and the produce is fresh australian seafood, quality meats, aged or young and above that, the ambience, service and location are wonderful.
Brilliant food combinations, attention to detail and fabulous service. Would eat there every day if feasible.
The food and wine are amazing, sushimi, wagu, aged beef and desserts to die for, service has to be the best service in any restaurant in australia. Its a whole dinning exprerience when you go to Rockpool. Please open a restaurant in Canberra.
I have dined at Rockpool Restaurant and I find it like no other restaurant, its refined, romantic, great food , great atmosphere. Its WOW....
It's great, shame you don't have the "Best Steak" option it would romp it in
The quality freshness of the produce lays a strong foundation in the creation of delicate textures and vibrant flavours so synonymous with Rock Pool.
We went there while on our first trip to Melbourne. We booked the day before & were able to get a table. We were just 'blown away' with the service we received & it made us feel very very special. The food was amazing too. After entres of Tuna & Prawns, we shared a massive rib eye steak, with as many condiments as you could imagine. I think we even had dessert? What a wonderful experience!!
Absolutely superb service with steaks to match. The concept is fabulous. Order your preferred meat and then order your sides. Just wonderful!
It was one of the best eating/dining experiences i have ever had, the service was fantastic, the atmosphere was comfotable, but elegtant and the food!! The best steak i have ever eaten.. this is my favourite restaurant of all time! Thanks Neil! :)
The food was a delicious experience, cooked and presented to perfection
I always look forward to eating at rookpool because the food is delicious. The menu is easy to read and understand. The food is wonderful without being too pretentious. The service is great as is the atmosphere. It's the sort of place that you can go as a couple or go with a group of friends for a special occasion. The other reason I like going there is that sometimes I might want a light casual lunch and they have a casual bar area where you can have a lighter meal or snack and drink. Great place and great location.
It doesn't matter wether you sit in the bar area and have the wagyu burger and a beer or you sit in the restaurant and lash out on a $500 per head sitting, the food is always consistently good, the service is attentive but never over in your face and the cocktails ROCK which make it the most fantastic experience!
The feeling you get when you walk in is already an experience in itself. Then you are waited upon beautifully and professionally by the fantastic staff. The food and wine is truly exceptional. The night out is truly, in the old-fashioned sense, a "night out on the town". Magnificent!
The food is modern but definitely proud to be Australian.
Nice setting and the food are fresh and tasty. Good atomsphere
Steak perfection
I have always wanted to dine at Rockpool in Sydney and admire Neil Perry's vision and food. Instead of eating at Rockpool Melbourne, I am now going to be their new patisserie apprentice!! I cannot wait to begin my new life as a chef and see a kitchen (finally) from the other side!! YAY!
We dined at the Sydney Rockpool Restaurant last Friday night (25/07/08) in which my (now fiance) proposed to me! The staff at the restaurant were well aware that this was going to be a very special evening for us, as my fiance had visited them that day and advised his plans. I am a very big fan of Neil Perry so my fiance arranged for us to spend the weekend in Sydney (we are from Melbourne) and he wanted it to be very special. HOWEVER, the service we received from the Rockpool staff was appalling, bordering on rude. We spent $800 (the money is not the factor here) and we were still treated as though we were not good enough to be there. On an otherwise unforgettable and exciting night, I was so very very disappointed and my expectations of what Rockpool would be were shattered. On Saturday night we visited Icebergs and were treated like royalty. It's amazing to think that two very well respected restaurants have such different values in relation to their dining guests. A note to Neil Perry and his staff at Rockpool - without us (your customers), you would not have a restaurant! Please remember that, next time someone decides to honor YOU by chosing to dine at your venue. Cerise Wolters - Melbourne
Rockpool was ok. I enjoyed my meal although i thought the service could have been better, we seemed to have a different waiter at our table the whole night. I thought we got the worst table right near the kitchen, i would have perfered to sit over near the windows, or at least not right beside the walk way of every waiter and person dining, not great vaule for money when you compare this sort of meal with others in the area. Wine was ok. Food was nice. Service needs to be had with a SMILE......
We went to Rockpool Bar and Grill last night and found it fantstic...the food was beautiful, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the entire experience was wonderful. For a special night out in Melbourne I would definately recommend Rockpool to anyone.
I just recently went to Rockpool Bar and Grill and was very very impressed the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious i had the best Duck Ragu that i have ever eaten in my life i just want to go back again and again and try everything on the menu
I had a great experience at Rockpool and I would reccomend it to anyone. I expected it to be very expensive but as it was my birthday I didn't worry about that. Was I wrong!! It is very affordable but very chic and I felt like a queen. I mentioned it was my birthday to see if I could keep the menu as it is dated. Not only did my waiter give me a menu he also brought me a cake with a candle to celebrate my birthday absolutely free. These are the small but lovely touches that make this a truly wonderful dining experience and I will definitely go back as soon as I can. The food was absaolutely fantastic and I couldn't eat it all there was so much. Thank you Rockpool for my wonderful birthday.
Unfortunately my experience at Rockpool VIC was very dissapointing. It had been a wish of mine to go there for so long, not that easy as we live interstate with 2 small children. Eventually my husband surprised me and off we went. The service was great, the sidedishes were good but our meals were very, very average. As you would understand the main reason you go somewhere is to enjoy your meal not only the service and sidedishes. Very dissapointed.
I have had the pleasure of experiencing the rockpool SYD. All i can say is WOW...fantastic! from the service, to the menu, to food
