Wonderful food, and I do mean truly wonderful flavours, accompanied by spectacular friendly service within a restauraunt full of warmth & ambience. Great wine selection too.

Paladarr is an outstanding place to eat. Every dish is carefully considered, cooked, composed and served. Flavours are distinct and complimentary so that each plate is an essay in culinary origins and its local interpretation. Ingredients are top class and the ambiance is classy without being daunting. The service is exemplary.

It is not often that you find a countries cuisine that is honest and not designed to just "appease" the Australian palate. Paladar Thai Issan is a restaurant who seems to focus on the authenticities of it's dishes and leaves one who knows his Thai food, as do I, feeling as though he has had a Pad Thai at the Flouting Markets or a wonderful Green Coconut Curry from the Rose Gardens.

Not only is the Menu of a high standard with many choices, the dishes have excellent clean flavours, but the atmosphere and service at the restaurant makes for a memorable evening out.

The blend of spices, aroma when you walk through the door, the professional though friendly service, the ambiance, the choice of foods especisally vegetarian, the knowledge of the waiters when asked questions about the menu, meeting the chief, children friendly, dine free on your birthday, I could keep going though where do I stop!!!!!

Because they turn standard Thai meals into something special and special dishes into something memorable. Never overserved, overcooked or drowned in spicy sauce, the meats are first grade cuts. The shrimp are cooked to perfection and the rice is excellent - no gluggy mess there. So if the first reason you go to a restaurant is the food - and it should be - Paladarr Thai Issan delivers a shamelessly enjoyable experience.

And if you like to be waited on discreetly yet comfortably along with your meal, Paladarr Thai Issan rounds off the experience. Somehow they manage to locate themselves in a family neighbourhood and yet bring a touch of sophistication to the service that keeps the average foodie happy and the snobs amongst us delighted.

My favourite story is dragging along some of my oldest friends, and acknowledged world travelling food snobs, who had never heard of the place for a lovely and unforgettable birthday. We were the last to leave at 12.30am having sampled so many dishes. Even though it is in Alphington, a long way from where my friends live, they have returned repeatedly.

Paladarr is a complete delight, the food is sensational, service attentive but subtle, decor is fantastic - it is the perfect combination of modern stylish restaurant and classy innovative Thai and unlike other more famous Melbourne Asian restaurants its a nice place to spend a long night in a comfortable setting and not at a rush job at a communal table.

The service is great, they are soo nice and friendly and teach you lots of stuff. Last time i was there they taught me how to say hello and goodbye in Thai and the owner is incredibly nice. he sometimes sits down and tells us stories about thailand and about the thai culture. i really enjoy eating there and the food in amazing. it's definitely my favorite restaurant. i also love how they sellf some other thai things such as scarfes and little ornaments.

Paladarr's service is impeccable with just the right amount and style of interaction from waiting staff and the Thai food is second to none in Melbourne. Without a doubt, the most creative yet authentic Thai food to be found. The tasteful decor is a huge step up from the usual tacky suburban chiches filled with artifacts bought in cheap markets. The food at Paladarr is amazing. Every dish is outstanding in taste and presentation. Each time I go to Paladarr I feel like it must be a celebration. Also it a wonderful local restaurant. There are so few restaurants outside the city that are this good. Close by, brilliant food, sensational atmosphere.

Paladarr Thai restaurant is fantastic, I have done their cooking course and then had lunch there. The food is amazing, flavours that have to be tasted to be believed. Presentation alone is a delight to the senses. Staff are eager to please and service is friendly. The decor is upmarket Thai, with all decorations authentic. I would reccomend this to anyone who is a lover of fine cusine.

Amazing and creative Thai food that's a bit different from the usual Thai. Lovely atmosphere and fantastic service. Have been there several times and enjoyed every single meal and visit. Also took a Thai Basics cooking class there which was a lot of fun and easy-going atmosphere. The food is definitely five star and they certainly look after their customers!

Where do I start! The atmosphere when you first walk in, to the first class service, to the owner himself mingling with guests and the authenticity of the overall Thai experience. Our palate had never tasted such tantalising flavours which we still talk about with our friends today. We don't live in Melbourne but still travel to Paladarr for our true Thai eating experience. To top it all of the little gift I received when leaving made it the best restaurant experience I've ever had!

Beautiful atmosphere and nice clean, flavoursome food. After traveling in Thailand last year, I became very picky about the Thai food I eat. I can honestly say that I have not found better Thai in Melbourne than at Paladarr Thai Issan. Plus the service could not be friendlier.

Paladarr is a beautiful restaurant, in a 'you wouldn't know it was there unless you looked' location... with some of the BEST Thai food I've ever eaten. Really good quality curries, and the menu has very different choices to your typical Thai restaurant. One of my favourites is a pork satay dip that you dunk roti into, amazing. And if you are on their mailing list, you get discounted dinner on your birthday - plus I got a gift on the night!

Our first Paladaar Thai Issan experience was a unexpected and delightful discovery. We were visiting the Trentham area and were enticed by the authentic Thai decor of the restaurant. It was early evening and although the restaurant was not open yet, we were invited in by the proprietor. We tried a number of dishes that evening and enjoyed all of them. We made numerous trips from Maryborough to Trentham with one purpose in mind - to eat at Paladaar Thai Issan. When the restaurant moved to its present location, we were disappointed as it was much farther for us to travel to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, and wonderful food. But travel we did. Although we are unable to visit as frequently, every visit is just as welcoming and the food as delicious. It is a bit of Thailand in Alphington.

Where do I start? From the moment I stepped into Paladarr Thai I was transported to the sunny land of smiles. I visited Paladarr Thai on a chilly winter's night and the warm welcome of the staff gave me a hint of what was in store. The food was sublime, it tantalised my tastebuds and took me back to my first experience of Thailand. The cocktail with a hint of holy basil will have me coming back for more.

I absolutely love Paladarr Restaurant! The only Thai Restaurant I have been to outside of Thailand where i can be assured that the exquisite flavors of Thai erupt beautifully on the palate! The whole experience of the way the guest is treated in a 5 star manner, and the inventiveness of the chef to bring out the best of Thai. The banquet is sensational! The duck curry was the most delisous & succulent curry I have ever had. The ice cream is to die for... I have recommeded Paladarr Thai to all my friends.

When we migrated to Australia we tried several Thai restaurants and finally found Paladarr and have not looked for another Thai restaurant since. The food is authentic, well presented and the service is friendly and professional.

I love Paladarr Thai Issan for many reasons. The food is fresh and tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful. On past birthdays I have had the owner come out and give me complementary dessert and sing me happy birthday. The building is beautiful, as well as the set-up of the room and this creates a lovely atmosphere. The menu is extensive, catering for a wide variety of people. I am a coeliac and the staff there are happy to adapt meals for me so that I don't feel left out. I can eat the same meals as my friends and family. I have been telling people for years that Paladarr is my favourite restaurant and I will continue to do so.

The surroundings are so lush and decadent with an outside garden reminisent of being on a tropical holiday- the presentation of the food ( sticky rice baskets) extensive wine list and not to mention exquisite flavours and interesting menu choices - you simply cant go back to any Thai restaurant after a dining experience here- it all just seems to be insipid in comparison. The food is FANTASTIC! It's very different from your average Melbourne Thai restaurant in terms of menu and presentation. It's classy. The atmosphere and styling is gorgeous and you feel you're dining in luxury while still paying only slightly more than an average night out for good Thai. The outdoor space is delightful for summer evening dining. My biggest beef with Paladarr is that it's hard to get in sometimes! You definitely have to plan ahead - at least a day or two. The best thing is that it's local for me and I can walk there and home. I've dragged lots of friends there and continue to rave about it and recommend it widely.

Because it is Thai food like I used to eat when I was living in Thailand. My Thai husband used to have the award of best Thai chef in Victoria but now it goes to the crew at Paladaar

The food is off the Richter scale.It's a beautiful sumptuous place to be in, probably the most attentive service I've had ina restaurant and the dishes are probably better than even the very best ones I've hsd in Thailand. Overall a fantastic place to eat and enjoy food and great company.

The atmosphere is delightful; soft lighting, gentle music and comfortable seats. The food is delicious and the matrede is extremely charming and pleasant, he explains the origin of the dish and how it should be eaten. I recently, spent my birthday there, my guests were greeted with a glass of bubbly and I received a beautiful gift.

They have the most amazing food and the service well its first class, nothing is too hard and they are all very happy. Sometimes hard to make a booking but it is by far the BEST Cheers Alison

Paladaar Thai is the most authentic Thai food outside Thailand and the best in Melbourne - the service and ambience are also second to none together with a good wine list.

The freshness of their dishes is appealing as is their presentation.

All in all it is a fabulous experience

The food is genuinely traditional Thai - And like the thai's they take full advantage of what is fresh and on offer at the time. For example when their fig tree was brimming with fresh ripe figs the chef used them to make an amazing thai fig dish. The staff genuinely enjoy their work and this is reflected in that the service is beyond expectations.

It is my favourite restaurant for a number of reasons. Firstly and most importantly, there's the food! The menu is amazing. Each dish is a treat waiting to be discovered. I personally have never had a better dish than the red duck curry. It is that good! Then there's the staff. Extremely friendly and professional service with a smile. Finally, there's the price. For a restaurant of this calibre, I would expect to be left with a far larger whole in my pocket, which is always a nice treat at the end of the night.

This restaurant is a delight: it is not just the food (though this is excellent), but the way in which you are made welcome, made to feel perhaps part of a family and a community for the evening. In a city that has hundreds of excellent restaurants, Paladarr is one of the very best.

A great special occasion venue to celebrate at that is still close to home. Has that extra touch of refinement in terms of food & decor. Notwithstanding, it is also welcoming to my 3 children and their less than refined asian palletes.

I love Palararr Thai Issan and I have returned there sooo many times with my brother. Usually on the weekend we get a yearning for many of their mouth watering dishes. Pla Goong, Kor Moo Yang, Neua Dat Deaw, Ka Nah Moo Grob, Gai Pad Med Mamuang, Morning Glory and steamed rice makes our menu. If there is room and I always want more room to have the Kanom Pancake. This year I hope to celebrate my birthday there. Thats just the food. The decor is amazing, you actually feel like you are in a tropical country when you step into the outdoor area. Last but definitely not least the staff are so friendly especially Aza. My brother and I dine out quite often and this is one place we keep going back to!

The restaurant has fantastic ambience, the service is 2nd to none and most importantly the food is out of this world. My mouth waters no matter how many times my husband and I go there. The food is tasty with crisp fresh vegetables, tender meats and unforgetable herbs and spices. For a suburgan Asian restaurant I vote Paladarr as number 1. A fantastic place for a quiet special evening out with the one you love or that night out with a group of friends. And this is all from someone who normally wouldnt choose Thai because of chillies.

The decor is just beautiful, the courtyard, the fountain, the attention to detail. Where else do you eat off such exceptioal crockery? The food is always delicious. Specials vary with each visit. The staff are all very well trained.

The food is consistently excellent. From the moment you arrive, you are treated as a very special guest. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the food is fresh, innovative and Thai. In Summer you can sit in a delightful courtyard, and in winter by the fire. It is a cut above all the other restaurants around here.

Our first visit reminded us of what excellent Thai food really tasted like and the delights of the Thai culture as we first experienced it many years ago in Melbourne. Thai food had become generic in Melbourne over the past 20 years, until Paladarr (registered trade mark). Keep up the good work Bryan.

This is the best Thai I have ever had - the flavours are so well balanced, the ingredients are so fresh, the dishes are never over- or under-done, the choices are superb and original, while the service is attentive, without being over-bearing, and friendly. The take away meals are as good as the restaurant meals, with the same attention to detail. We drive 10 kilometres to get the take-away from our home in Pascoe Vale South.

The ambience is amazing, and really makes you feel like you are in a different culture. The food is absolutely delicious and all cooked and presented to the highest standards. The staff are fantastic, helpful and willing to suggest various dishes to create the perfect meal. You can see why everyone comes back to Paladarr...it is an unforgettable experience and one I continue to enjoy each time!

I have never tasted such authentically asian food outside of asia. The food is delicious, the service exceptional, and the atmosphere is supreme.

They have unique dishes, excellent service and fine ambience. We especially like the Issan cuisine which is the specialty of Paladarr - the appetiser wrapped in the chafoo leaves is a treat!

The dishes at Paladarr are superb, the service is excellent and there is such a warm and inviting feel to the restaurant. I also think that they are clever and creative in the way they have newsletters, cooking classes on offer and cooking tours.

Finally l've found a Thai restuarant that combines beautiful authentic Thai cuisine and a relaxing intimate dinning experience. Nothing is too much trouble & variations to dishes listed are always accomondated on request. This certainly has become my favorite Thai restaurant in Melbourne.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary and my wife's birthday at Paladarr - both nights were wonderful, the food exquisite, service excellent and the atmosphere romantic. The staff go out of their way to assit you in choosing the right food & wine as well as being friendly and professional. The restaurant has a range of tables inside and a lovely outside garden setting for couples or groups. I highly recomend the Paladar for any special occassion.

Having visited Thailand twice my wife and I learnt to appreciate Thai cuisine, and we have discovered that Paladarr Thai Issan is an excellent Thai restaurant close to the area where we live. We thoroughly recommend Paladarr Thai Issan for first class, authentic Thai meals.

I have paid much higher prices at some of Melbourne's supposedly best restaurants to be very much disappointed. I can't recommend Paladarr highly enough.

Everytime our family has a special occasion or something to celebrate, we think of Paladarr. They food is amazing, not just the taste but the presentation as well. Their waitstaff are so friendly that you feel like they are part of your family. The service was amazing they knew the menu well which meant they were well trained, it had a warm feeling about it, the decor was traditional yet modern and very comfortable. When the food arrived (promptly) it was magnificant i had the thai green curry and it was the best green curry i have tasted. All in all the wine list was great the menu exquisite cant wait to eat there again!

Simply the best Thai Restaurant I have eaten at in Victoria and for that matter, outside of Thailand itself. Wonderful ambience, very friendly, courteous and helpful staff and the food was a true epicurean delight, excellent, intense flavours that really captured the authentic tastes of Thailand complimented by a very well stocked Bar. Presentation of the meal was also excellent. I was very impressed by the size of the tables at this Restaurant, far too often I have eaten at other Asian Restauants where the various courses have been presented to the small table with the result that it is necessary to place drinks and other items on the floor to make room for the meal, this was not the case here and we were more than able to place an assortment of courses on the table with ease. Prices of drinks and the meal itself were more then reasonable. I would have no hesitation in recommending this excellent establishment to anyone that is looking to experience first class Thai cuisine.

Brian and is crew have undeniably cornered the chef's hat market with Chaleom's fabulous Thai food..... it's always a pleasure to dine here and explore the explosion of flavours on offer.

The ambience is the most unique I have seen in Australia. Oh and the food and service is magnificient too, of course!

The food is the most beautiful Thai I have ever eaten. The service is impeccable and the ambience is lovely. I am lucky to live near the best Thai restaurant in Melbourne.

My family and I travel 3 hrs just to go to this restaurant. The food is mouth watering and there is such an amazing variety of dishes to choose from. The services is terrific and the staff just pamper you and make you feel extremely special. I have recomended this resteraunt to friends, family and work collegues. The staff and owners of Paladarr should be extremely proud of themselves.
