In the year 2000, Frank travelled throughout Spain and was inspired by both the modern and traditional aspects of Spanish cuisine he discovered.
Returning to Australia, Frank was determined to share his inspiration. In fact, MoVida is named after the art and film movement that flourished after the death of the Fascist dictator, Colonel Franco. This exciting innovative era - full of exuberant energy celebrating fun & the Spanish character is also another source that MoVida draws on.
So dining at MoVida you'll discover is relaxed and yet cheerfully determined to be both fun and creative. Where the evening's new dish was inspired by the produce and ingredients that came through the front door in the morning... This is the essence of the MoVida spirit.
Nice food, very fresh ingredients and perfect combinations. Size of tapas and raciones were disappointing. I suppose once you've been to Spain and experienced the food there for next to nothing it is hard to pay top dollar when the portions are so small. Go there for the experience not for a big fill.
WOW couldnt book left it too late so we went and waited at the bar for 35 mins with a wine in hand..... Will not disappoint exceptional food and great wine not to mention the atmosphere... awesome night cant wait to go back
Going to experience MoVida Bar De Tapas this march the 17th 2010 soo ill let you know iv received the "RUSTICA" book and will create some delectable treat at home mm cannot wait the - Octopus Terrine - looks amazing..xo
Fantastic atmosphere for a Sunday lunch with great reasonablly priced dishes. Particularly good wine .
Movida is the most amazing restaurant in th CBD Consistently good, offering beautiful food from authentic thru to new takes on Spanish food. Try the appetiser of anchovy , layered on a thin crouton with a smoked tomato sorbet and mini capers. Or perhaps the smoked wagyu beaf with a poached egg in the middle and lots of truffle foam. Even every little bit is good - the Valencia salad - palm hearts, olives. endive, etc.... we had a paelle which was rabbit, spicy sausage, truffles and more and it was incredible....even the croquettes are to die for. and the homemade ice creams (and i don't usually eat dessert).
Movida is seriously orgazmic , the best food in town
I love it for its unique and always tasty Spanish quisine.. I eat at a lot of different places and my experience at Movida has been the best. There is a trademark dish on offer which consists of finely sliced cured meat, with truffle foam and a poached quail egg on top. Totally unique and bursting with flavour. The wine list at Movida is also extensive, with beautiful Spanish wine varieties on offer that you would not find at other restaurants, so you can always match up an exquisite wine wihe the perfect tapas dish. I have introduced many friends to that restaurant and they all love it.
It's the best lamb cutlets, scallops and black pudding I've ever eaten. Looking forward to going back there in September when I go to Melbourne.
Everytime I dine at Movida, its sensational. I let them select our food and they never fail to please. I always take out of town friends there and they are blown away by the gastronomical experience
Traditional Spanish food cooked with a high level of skill, but the main reason is that its just as good if not better than Mums!
Mo Vida consistently serves up Melbourne's best tapas in a cosy, sophisticated yet friendly environment. It ofers both simple and complex dishes that keep me coming back for more. If only I could get a table...
The food is absolutely amazing. The ortiz anchovy with tomato sorbet is to die for! Have had many great nights here with great friends a great atmosphere, excellent food and fantastic wine!
Every morsel of food amuses the palate...all food at restaurants should give you that experience!
The food is a 5-star dining experience, with fresh produce and wonderfully combined flavours, while the vibe of the restaurant is relaxed, buzzy, and happening. The open kitchen, the bar, the staff, everything invites the diner to enjoy, interact, watch, sample, and savour the whole experience. From the Sangria you drink to the Churros for dessert - it is a Spanish Haven in the middle of Melbourne.
food is seasonal, accurate and served with panache and care
In a class of its own! Even though we were full, one more morsel managed to find its way into our mouths again and again - absolutely divine.
Fantastic food, great selection of wines, the staff are so friendly. Even when it's busy, they find room and time for you. Can't recommend enough. Did I mention fantastic food???
This place is amazing. My number one recommendation to anyone visiting Melbourne who appreciate great food. Truly fantastic & innovative tapas with a great extensive wine list.
Authentic & reminds me of holidays in Barcelona everytime i go there... The Food is simply amazing and grazing over a selction of dishes and a glass of spanish wine is the best way to experience it !

The food is consistently amazing!! Great relaxed environment, great service and you are never disappointed with the fantastic menu.
I love this place. It's cosy, busy, noisey, fun and bloody delicious! The service is incredible, the wine list is off the chart and the food is to die for.
I can never get a table!!!! That's how good it is! Informal. Great variety of wines.
Movida is amazing. I've been here four or five times now and each time it's been perfect. You'll need to book way ahead if you want a Friday or Saturday night though. But it's worth it.
I've had a couple of fantastic nights at Movida. Food is always exceptional and the waiters know exactly what they are talking about - including recommending some excellent wines to go with our meal. I would highly recommend this place.
Delicious, cannot book must show up and take a chance bit frustrating. But food wont let you down, Was worth the wait.
