One of the only restaurants where you can get authentic Mexican in Queensland. Awesome smokey sauces, fresh and interesting meals that step outside the "cardboard" mexican experience. Fairly priced and generous portions. Stands as a great resturant in general, not only in this category.
There are just so many reason why i am voting for La Quinta in the ‘i love food awards’. Having been there agin for dinner last night it only confirmed my opinion of the restaurant, its staff and the lovely owner. My partner and i eat at La Quinta at east twice a week, sometimes for a full meal, other times for its Tapas and a beverage. We have since introduced all of our friends to the restaurant and its become a meeting place for us on any given night. The daycour is amazing and the atmosphere is very friendly! The first thing that i love about La Quinta is its location. It is located in beautiful, leafy bulimba, tucked away in a lovely little building, right on oxford street. You can sit at one of the many tables, at the bar, or perched up nice and high on a seat overlooking passers by and the always vibrant oxford street traffic. The prices are very affordable which is perfect for us! The meal serving size is fantastic. My partner and i are not big eaters and we offend find ourselves sharing a main dish, still leaving feeling absolutely stuffed. One dish that we never pass up is the dips, served with corn chips and fresh tortillas, the flavor is always fresh and amazing. I have enquired and they make all of their dips fresh from produce purchased at the local markets and you can really taste the full,fresh, vibrant flavor every time. Another favorite of ours are the sizzling enchiladas, they are always amazing! The best thing about La Quinta is the management and staff. We eat there so regularly, the staff now know us and we have become quite friendly with them! There is never a shortage of staff and you never have to wait for everything, they are always there ready to top up drinks or remove food from table or just to check on how everything is proceeding. Meals come out extremely fast, all together with a smile! The drinks are absolutely amazing and the staff are not shy in recommending a drink or a dish if you happen to get stuck. They know the menu like the back of their hand and are extremely excited about the new menu that will be coming into play over the next week. I must admit i am excited too but i was very happy to hear that the old favorites will still remain! Their selection of beers is amazing, the cocktail menu is tantalizing and we always leave feeling full, content and grinning from ear to ear. We always have a pleasant experience there, you can never, ever fault the food, drinks or the staff. I've never been able to say that about a restaurant as my partner and i are very critical and rarely satisfied by restaurants that we frequent. We often think about going elsewhere to try other restaurants in the area but end up back at la Quinta because you just cant beat it!!!

The food is absolutely delicious no matter what you order, the service is friendly and attentive. The ambience is excellent and fun, and in order to grab a waiters attention you don't need to waive your hand around and spend your time hoping someone notices you, you just stick a flag in your cactus and wait for someone to come. The drinks menu is as varied as it is plentiful and as far as relaxed dining goes, it's number one on my list.
I came all the way from the Sunshine Coast for a family dinner, and La Quinta Cafe & Bar was recommended to me.
Not only was it the best night out that I have had in a love time, the staff and food was just AMAZING 20 out of 10 is all I can say!

It's an amazing place! I have been searching for a Mexican restaurant in Australia since visiting Mexico and this is definately the best I have found. I go there nearly once a week. It is not expensive, every bite is a taste sensation and it is the ultimate place for social events, parties ...even going out for a date!! Plus, the service is pheomenal. Everyone I have taken there just loves it. The menu has great variety and the staff are wonderful - pleasant, always on the ball and great at recommending new dishes.

La Quinta is the best Mexican south of the border. I especially love the friendly staff that makes the BEST Margaritas at very reasonable prices. The chef is always happy to amend some of the dishes eg. Wanting more guacamole or salsa? The environment is always friendly, only problem finding a seat!
