Just back from yachting holiday in the Whitsunday’s and was surprised to see an Airlie Beach restaurant featuring in the I Love Food awards. Had to try it and after initially not expecting too much I was absolutely amazed at what the owners of this place have put together, both in terms of concept and food. This is the quintessential Australian Fish Café, casual, al fresco and some of the friendliest and happiest staff I have ever come across. The food is simple local seafood, all on display and screamingly fresh.
As a great seafood fan I have eaten in many of our high profile seafood restaurants, including some mentioned in your awards but have never seen it done so well, so inexpensively and by a staff team so obviously in love with what they do.
If Fish D’Vine in Airlie Beach is rated number 2 then Brett’s Wharf should be looking over their shoulder. Well-done Lifestyle Food. I would not even have known this place existed and can recommend it to anyone. It is ultra casual and visually does not offer much but I was there on a Sunday evening when the place starts hopping about 6.30 pm. Live music is playing across the road in some deal the restaurant has with the local council, the regulars, and there appears to be hundreds of them, all turn up, and the atmosphere in the large footpath dining area is almost as amazing as the food. This is one of the best dining experiences I have ever had and we had great seafood, one of their famous Mojitos each from their “Rum Bar” and a bottle of wine for well under $100 for the 2 of us.
The bar, almost it’s own separate entity has about 100 different rums and boasts it is Australia’s only specialist rum bar. Sure goes well with the Whitsunday’s sailing roots and from the number of mojitos and rum punches I saw going out on Sunday it is a big hit with the locals. Don’t know what else to add. A surprise packet for sure and almost the best part of a 7 day sailing holiday. Hard to put my finger on it but this was a combination of atmosphere, food, the staff, the music and just the intoxicating euphoria of the tropics. This is “Lifestyle” dining, not 5 star.

Well the name says it all, the most d'vine fish I have ever tasted. The first night I share Barramundi that was caught that morning, absoutely delicious and some coral trout that was like nothing I've ever tasted before. Back again the next night for Oysters natural and fresh Mud Crab. If you are in the area it is a must. The Rum Bar is also fantastic. It will be a while before I have the humble Rum and Coke again. Well done guys, a perfect formula.

Yes We started at the bar with a couple of really good ***tails and then we selected our own fish.
The restaurant/cafe is owned by chef's and food is cooked by chef's and it was divine. we ate lunch once and dinner 3 times and we were not dissapointed.

On our recent trip to Airlie Beach we came across a fantastic seafood resturant. We love to indulge in fresh seafood as often as we can, and in the tropics they really know how to cook seafood so it tastes and looks so appealling. We spoiled ourselves with the seafood platter and it lived up to our expectations, & the chilli mudcrab is to die for. The Rumbar was an added exta with the most friendly and happiest staff who couldn't do enough to produce mind tingling concoctions. The choices of rum sent a chill through your taste buds. The atomsphere was Relaxed & informal. Congratulations to all the staff at Fish D'Vine for making our holiday memorable.
