Firstly...this is a genuine review - NOT written by a Family Friend or staff of Cupido (as I suspect some are)
What a Shame....we went here using a discount voucher. Lucky or I would have been so so annoyed. I have read the other reviews and agree and disagree in part with most. Firstly I will say the food was GREAT....the service was GREAT...why the disappointment you ask. As I said we had a voucher so we paid $50 for Banquet #3....(Their biggest banquet)...for 2 people ordinarily $100. If I paid full price I would have called the fraud squad. We are not big eaters, but even we left Hungry...IT WAS A JOKE. Their main banquet is (I can even remember every dish it was that small) 3 x dips (avge size) 2 x dolma (not home made - out of a can) 1 x small serve of Tabouli 2 x Falafel (beautiful) 2 x Kibbi 2 x Kibbi in Pastry (sorry don't know lebanese name) 6 x small peices of bread each 2 x minced meat on skewer - small (I think 'shawamma') 2 x Chicken skewers 2 x Lamb skewer 2 x calamari rings (correct 1 each) 2 x Prawns 2 x baklava 2 x Lebanese coffees
Now I have eaten at Lebanese/Turkish/Greek before and ALWAYS leave stuffed for less. We felt like going to Macca's on the way home....Sorry this is not worth $100 for 2 people...they had a $29 banquet which would be close to the mark.
The service was excellent (poor waiter worked his butt off - while the owner of the place - a well dressed guy, sat out the front smoking one of those lebanese pipes trying to chat up 2 girls half his age...nice touch).
With a coupon we were disappointed....full price - disgusted. Its safe to say we wont be back - nor will you. Shame...they could have really put on a great value meal.

Ihab you have got no ide what ur talking about. The food is *** and disgusting ok. The service is like a bunch of cows in the kitchen - slow and the entertainment is lower than lo. It's the shittest place on lygon. Ok. Wouldn't go there for a free token.

I voted cupido for best middle eastern in melbourne, visited several times with the family and its never disappointed. Always good food, entertainment and service and priced much cheaper than any other middle eastern cuisine that i have been to in melbourne
Us too. My friend and I were there over the weekend and must say that the food was cold. We expected our food to come out hot. It was almost like it was pre-cooked and then microwaved, but by the time we got our food it was cold. It's not a good experience when you end up grabbing a pizza from across the road to fulfill your appetite. I don't I'd go back there. The shisha was expensive also as many have said.

Such a beautiful culture represented in the best way possible. From great food, to delicious choices of flavoured tobacco for the shisha, to great service. All the reasons why Cupido's should be voted number one. As a regular customer i am proud to be apart of such a loving team, who treat you like family. Keep up the good work boys :)
I also beg to differ with your comment Mystical. I don't think Cupidos should be voted #1 due to all the negative comments made just on this site. The food, honestly speaking, is good but nothing special. The prices are way too high for a small amount of food. Us arabs love to eat, not to sit there and expect a tiny amount of dips enough to scoff in 2 secs. One shish kebab and one chicken isn't enough for a guy. Therefore, I disagree and would say that it is over-priced, over-staffed, the quantity of food is poor for what you pay and the place is simply dying.
i beg to differ with your comment ... worst service i have ever received and severely overpriced for a simple sisha what a joke! i can think of plenty of other places i'd rather spend my money

Cupidos is a beautiful place... it's modern and traditional at the same time. The exotic bar, delicious cocktails, belly dancers, shisha and middle eastern music makes it all the more enjoyable. The food is superb. Absolutely delicious meals... the dips and kafta are amazing! One of the best chefs in Melbourne. The staff are suer friendly.. a fabulous great night out with friends, family...etc and great for occasions. The function room upstairs is a beautiful relaxing area and the balcony over-looks lygon street. Well done Cupidos... one of the best middle eastern rest. in Melbourne. Absolutely love it!

Its a great mix of West and East. A Bar, Club, Argyle cafe, Restaurant and hangout! Its everything mixed into one. Mixing a modern theme within traditional food and customs!

The most amazing Middle Eastern restaurant of many within Vic. ... the atmosphere and food take your mind away... and it's only when you leave, you realise after a brief moment, that you are infact in melbourne and what you've just experienced is infact the real flavour of the Middle East.
I've eaten ALOT of lebanese in my time and nothing can compare to Cupidos. The fattoush is unlike any i've ever had- its sweet and crunchie and hits the spot every time! The dips are so authentic and the vine leaves just melt in your mouth. I recommend this place all the time to people as it not only has great food but great coffee and bellydancers on the weekends.
