Paying homage to the “Beautiful Era” in European history not just in name but intrinsically in nature, Belle Epoque’s stunning turn-of-the-century setting and rustic repertoire of hearty French fare will have diners thinking they have died and gone to Paris.
In the tradition of the great brasseries of France, the menu is classically inspired with many dishes evolving from recipes dating back hundreds of years. With this nostalgic respect for tradition but also a canny feel for contemporary preference, chef de cuisine Sebastien Labbe has ensured there are enough subtle twists to seduce the most seasoned Francophile.
With its warm Parisian ambience, Belle Epoque is perfect for all manner of occasions; perch at the ornate carved zinc bar for a plate of oysters and Pernod; graze over a selection of cheeses with a bottle of Bordeaux or duck in for a mid-week dinner of hearty Rabbit Stew.
The wine menu is generous and thoughtful, with an allegiance to French wines spanning from the eastern Alsace region to Southern Provence, the Loire Valley and Rhone. For those who struggle to navigate their way around the terminology of La carte des vins, a variety of wines are available by the glass.
From the smell of freshly baked baguettes wafting through from the neighboring Boulangerie and Patisserie and the well stocked chilled seafood counter, to the accented wait staff and the rich texture-driven decor that characterized 1920’s Paris, one needs only to swing open the grand double doors to see that Belle Epoque has that certain je ne sais quoi about it.
The waiting staff need replacing. They really let the back of house down with their inefficient service. I wonder if the Head Chef is aware of this? The beautiful food is far superior to the service.
Service and wine menu are outstanding. My understanding is that it is a replica of the Belle Époque in France. Although I have not been to the original in France I have eaten many fine dining meals in the country and throughout Europe. Belle Époque gives you a feel that you are actually in a different place as the ambience really assists this. The food is of the medium to high end of pricing but is worth every sent. I can assure you that I have struggled to find food as good as this all throughout Europe for anywhere near this price. As a general rule of thumb the fine dining prices I have found in Europe tend to be the exact same price but in Euro/Pound (i.e. what is $30 in Australia is 30EUR/GBP in Europe) and certainly no better quality than Belle Époque Brisbane.
wonderful ambience very good food and friendly and helpful service
A special place for the whole family- children are made very welcome with a delicious menu just for them. We have thoroughly enjoyed the service, food and ambience at each visit.
Classic french dishes are superbly and impeccably presented, along with one of the most outstanding wine selection I have come across. The crepes suzette are a must, they prepare at your table! Great and authentic atmosphere all round.
Beautiful food and atmosphere - simply stunning
Looks and feels just like a Parisian bistro, and the food is wonderful.
