Ingredients

  • 400g self raising flour
  • 2 tbsp icing sugar
  • 2 tsp bicarb soda
  • 50g melted butter
  • 250 ml milk

Method

  1. In a large bowl combine all ingredients by hand, until just together, do not overwork as it can toughen.
  2. Place onto a floured bench, press down slightly until about 4 cm thick and cut with a 7 cm cutter.
  3. Baste with milk and bake at 180C for about 25-30 minutes.
  4. Allow to cool slightly before serving with jam and cream.
