Mackerel with Warm Greengage Chutney

A delicious recipe for you to try at home as seen on Great British Food Revival.

Ingredients

  • 4 fillets Mackerel

Greengage Relish

  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp cardamom
  • 2 star anise
  • 4 tomatoes (peeled deseeded and chopped)
  • 12 greengages. Chopped roughly
  • Salt
  • 100ml white wine vinegar
  • 50g sugar

Method

  1. Chop onion and garlic finely.
  2. Cook until soft add spices.
  3. Add tomatoes vinegar and sugar and simmer until everything thickens.
  4. Add greengages. Allow to cool. Fry mackerel. Serve.
