Chocolate Drop Cookies

A soft moist cookie that can be enjoyed frosted or plain. Taste can be changed by adding spices such as ginger or cinnamon.


  • Cookie

  • 60g butter or margarine

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 squares of bitter dark chocolate, melted.

  • 2 cups plain flour

  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

  • 0.5 teaspoon bicarb soda

  • 0.5 milk

  • Frosting

  • 3 tablespoons cocoa

  • 3 tablespoons hot coffee

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

  • 1.5 cups icing sugar

    Cream butter and sugar. Ass egg and blend well. Add vanilla and melted chocolate. Sift flour, salt and soda. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Drop teaspoon amounts on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 175C for 12 - 15 minutes. Frost while warm.


Cookies are cooked when edges start to brown. Allow to cool a few minutes before removing from baking sheet. Store in an air tight container.
